Need opinions on my tire set up idea
Hey everyone im considering getting drag radials for my car. The rims i have are rota torque 18x9.5 with a +20 offset. Im thinking about going with the MT's et radial 2. The two sizes im considering are 305/35/18 or 305/45/18. Im leaning more towards the 305/45/18 because it has more sidewall wich = more flex and it hooks better.
What has me worried is if the 45 sidewall will be to tall even with rolled fenders. If anyone has input or know of set ups like the one im thinking of let me know.

Thanks im dropped on eibach's pro kit springs which is only .8 inches in the rear. All im looking for is if anyone has a set up similar to the one im considering. So i can compare and see if it will workout. Anyone else?

i have eibach prokit as well, and if im not mistaken, the rears are a 1" drop, (not .8"), and so are the fronts for that matter

What is the power set-up....a 28"+ tire is an absolute no no on an NA car. Keep in mind that tire sidewall height is more important than tire width in a drag tire. The tire height also can have a drastic effect on gearing. If you are NA and on stock 3.5FD I would look for and lean towards the shorter tire.

No my 350z is 2jz powered and the set up is for 700 rwhp. Just working out some things before it gets tuned. I dont mind going with a slightly smaller tire width. Like a 285/45/18 as long as i can set my s straight as possible for more meat on the road. Im just curious to see if the 305/45/18 set up can be accomplished the right way.

305 is too big on a 9.5. 305/45 is too big for a 350. You don't need a huge tire when they are sticky. Get a properly-sized Mickey Thompson ET Street and call it a day. What do you have for axles?
BTW, did you ever finish the dyno tune? Clearly you must have it you're talking about drag racing it. I guess you also decided to keep it?

275/60/15 would be your best bet....assuming you have non-brembo brakes. Get some inexpensive, light 15x8's and call it a day. That is if traction is your big want/issue. As for the 18x9.5.....I think the 305 with a 45 sidewall may be alright....simply because there is so much flex in the sidewall. I ran a 275/50 MT DR on an 8" wheel without issue (and some street use). I haven't really looked, but I would run a 285/295 with a 40 sidewall. The 45 sidewall is going to be a tall tire. Keep one thing in mind also.....the MT's are MUCH wider than most street tires. I haven't looked at the specific tread section width, but my 275 DR's were considerable wider than my 275 Dunlop Star Specs are.
You may want to look into DSS Pro axles.........

i think im just gonna go with the nitto 555r they make them in 285/40/18 which is pretty much what i have now but on street tires. Micky's only come in 305/45 or 35/18 and the number under that is 265 which is no good for my set up.
Well i still have the car but things have gotten a bit better around here so im trying to finish it and enjoying it untilll it sells.

I've also seen 255/50/16 ET Street Radials support my friend's then-600rwhp Z32TT with 1.6s 60's and a 10.2s pass: http://www.mickeythompsontires.com/s...ETStreetRadial Those also come in a 275/40/17.

Every other drag radial on the market has a stickier compound....the sidewalls are stiffer than the competition....they are kind of an intermediary b/w real drag radials (MT and M&H) and sticky street tires. If you are going to spend the money you might as well get your moneys worth.
