Default Opinions on ruff racing rims?

Hey, i'm new to the board so don't be surprised if I post this in the wrong place or mess something up with the post.

I have a 2006 base model 350z with 37000 miles on it. I have been looking into getting new rims on it, and I think I found the ones. Does anyone have Ruff racing rims on their 350z? I definitely want to stay at the 18 inch size too. Any opinions?

These are the exact rims I was looking at

Welcome.

You can spend $500 to $5,000 for wheels. Depends on your budget and needs. If you like the wheels get them.

Packages such as this often include bargain tires. Beware of the limits of bargain tires.

I was looking at the Rot g force in flat black and gunmetal on wheeldude.com There is definitely a possibility I will end up with those, just have to think about it a little longer.

If you like em buy em. Forged wheels are not a necessity if you are not tracking your car.

I'd would almost advise against the Ruff from your link. For one, it's only 8" wide. You might as well shoot for 9" or wider for aftermarket wheels. Also, I didn't see the offset on it. You don't wanna find out later it's like +45 or something.

Welcome to the forum, normally if you use the search function you can find what you need without creating a thread:

https://my350z.com/forum/search.php?searchid=11748330

You can also search for Luff (similar wheels) but don't search for Muff (LOL)

get a bit wider wheel and tire. 18s and 19s look good on the car IMO. and dont listen to the VOLK nuthuggers that are bound to find this and flock here to tell you otherwise on these wheels. If you like them and are happy with them then get them. Its what you want. I think they look nice, but id opt for 19s instead. check the offset as well.

I looked up the luff rims, and I like some of the styles, but they have been out of business for a while and its hard to find the rim I want, let alone the person selling it.

I had a set of Ruff wheels on my Z. They held up well and I never had any issues with them. Hit pot holes and all but didn't get messed up.

for 18s and a very mild setup, I had 18x8.5 front and 18x9.5 rear in +20 offset with 245/40/18 fr and 275/40/18. Rear fenders rolled.

Paid 900 for the rims and 600 for some Kumhos. Honestly though, you should just keep your eyes in the for sale forums for some Volks and spend a little more for a nice used set of rims.

Actually a lot of us who track our cars are not using forged wheels.

Werd.
A lightweight high quality cast is just fine and usually lighter.

I'm not going to be tracking the car. I do like the way the 19 inch looks over the 18 inch, there are just a few too many pot holes in charlotte, NC right now.....

Advan cast wheels has hollow spokes, while they may not be as strong as forged wheels, they are diffinitely light.

I had the Ruff 278 Rims Hyper Black 18x8.5/18x9.5 split spoke design. They were not bad for the money. The issue with mine were the fake allen head socket screws would fall off.

I sold them and stepped up to Volk GT V just to match the level of other mods on my car. Like Checkmate58 said spend the extra money, look for a set of high quality used rims which are more readily available.

the problem those packages starting at 899 is the worst possible cheap *** tires you could put on the car, I go through tires about every year and i just would much rather spend the extra cash to have some really good tires instead of garbage better handling better ride etc. As for ruff racing, i dont care much for them but they are budget wheels that look pretty decent. I had a problem buying cheap wheels once, TSW thruxtons, had them for 4 months cleaned them with nothing but a wash mit and soap and water and the clear coat on the lip started to peal.

Yeah, even if I did order those ruff rims, I wouldn't get the tires with them. So far, these might be my favorite.

The 19" staggered Rota P45's are an awesome setup for the 350Z. We run this model on our shop 350Z and there are also a ton of other 350Z's running this setup with awesome results

Here's an entire thread devoted to just pictures of Rota P45's (18" and 19" fitments pictured)

If you have any questions regarding this setup feel free to PM me or call me in the shop

Rota makes nice replica wheels. Have heard good things about them. If you want to protect your wheels, then invest in good tires as well. If you go with 18's, obviously you can go with 245/40/18 F and 275/40/18 R for good protection against potholes. If you go with 19's, then go with 255/35/19 F and 285/35/19 R (or 275/35/19). I'd go with 255/35 instead of 245/35 because 255/35/19 gives you a little more sidewall protection. Good luck.
