my tires last me two days it feels like.. got sick of buying expensive tires olnly to have one friggin inch wear down to nothing and ruin an otherwise new looking tire.

Replaced bushings on front suspension, got toe delete rear bolts, and a rear camber lower bar... got a full race shop alignment done, and now sit at -1.5 cambner in rear, and zero toe... toe is the enemy far more than camber in the rear, especially if you ahve lowered the car etc.

Car is quieter and tires last faaaaar longer now.

 

What are your impressions of the Conti DWS'? I've been running the BFG KDW's for several years on stock wheels but I've upgraded to 19s and now im shopping around for tires. I'm wondering how they perform especially when cornering.

 

Hi, I recently installed Continental Extreme Contact DWS all-season tires (245/40-18” front and 245/45-18” rear), and really like them.

So that you know what I am comparing, I’ve run these tires on two different 350z’s:

• OEM Bridgestone
• Michelin PS2
• Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3
• Avon (cannot remember the model, but it was a summer performance tire I bought because it was inexpensive)

I should also mention that my comparison is based in street driving.

In my opinion/experience the Continental Extreme Contact DWS is a lot more comfortable and runs much more quietly than the summer performance tires I mention above. And, the DWS’s are really secure on wet surfaces. I cannot provide information about tire wear since my DWS’s are new.

The disadvantages of the DWS’s are a noticeably softer sidewall and slightly less grip on dry roadways.

Please don’t get me wrong. The DWS’s are very sticky on dry roadways and handle very well when cornering, but they do not provide the feel you get running summer performance tires with stiff sidewalls. And, I should mention that after driving the DWS’s for a short time, I don’t notice the softer sidewalls and have no problem when cornering; and I really enjoy the comfort and quiet ride.

After driving on the Continental Extreme Contact DWS’s, I doubt that I will ever go back to summer performance tires for street driving. Summer performance tires are too expensive, too noisy, wear too quickly, lack comfort, and do not match the wet grip of A/S tires.

EDIT - now I see why.

235s on 9.5" front wheels and 245s on 10.5" rear wheels. The funny thing is that the original offset (+25 all around) is great, and you could have put real-sized tires on those wheels instead of those rubber bands.

 

My friends dad is a Nissan Tech and he printed out the service announcment for me..He said the Z has to be aligned EXACTLY as it says on the announcment or it will rip through tires. Its good to know but I wish i would have found this out earlier. he also said ill never get good milage out of tires so next time im looking come to him and he will get me the best pair for the job...He seems to really know his **** and resynced my TMPS sensors for free

 

1st set: Bridgestone RE040 ~20k miles.
2nd set: Bridgestone RE050A PP ~20k miles.
current set: Michelin PS2 - 16k miles and going.

 

Whew, I'm glad someone else is doing the 245/40-18 f and 245/45-18 r. I just bought a set of DWS tires this week, but since every distributer was backordered on the 225/45-18, I settled for the 245 on the front.

I could wait, but my rear tires are currently worn down to the wear bars, and the temperature has dropped into the 40's recently.

 

I've had mine on for 6 months or so now and I love them. I did notice the softer sidewall at first... but I'm not sure if it's in my head or I'm just used to it, but they certainly don't feel as soft as the first few weeks I had them.

I've changed tires every time so far:

OEM
Michelin Pilot Sport
General Exclaim UHP
Nankang NS-II
Kumho Ecsta

I'll probably stick with the Continentals from now on though. Although I do like the Yokohama Envigors I just installed on wife's car... but not any better than my Continentals as far as I can tell.
