Default New meat: KDW's

I finally bit the bullet and got set of KDW's. I ran my Nitto's for almost 50,000 miles, so I think I got my moneys worth. These KDW's are so much different than the Nitto's it's crazy. Handling improved dramatically. There is more road noise but I have a AP exhaust so I'm used to that lol. My sizes are 245/35/19F and 285/35/19R

Anyways I thought I would share. Here are some pics

I had a set of BFG KDWII's on my Z back in 2005-2006. They are the BEST street tires available but they don't last that long.

My Z is turbocharged and I used to go street racing or drive enthusiastically in the Cali mountains and canyons so these tires were a must and they were incredibly good.

Their sidewalls were stiffer and of course had less flex but the grip was amazing. Again, the only thing is that they are more expensive and they don't last nearly as long.

As I got my super fast driving out of my system, I went for some cheap Nexxens and you can really feel the differrence as the harder compound Nexxens will start to slip and lose grip MUCH earlier than the sticky KDW's.

I first learned about the KDW's on a magazine article where the feature was to get the Z to do 1 G in lateral grip and 2 of the key components were KDW's and Hotchkis front and rear sways.

Amazing tires!

LOVE these tires...Road race on them and they are awesome! I believe they are "Y" rated to 186 mph? been almost 150 on them

Oh and its kind of ironic that I had nitto before as well..lol they were the NT555 and WOW what a difference the KDW's made!

unfortunately, the noise only gets worse from this point on. Will be nearly unbearable toward the end.. people may not hear you on a handfree BT mic. But, aside from that, I enjoyed the hell out of my last sets.

Going to try Conti DW's next. I think.

Thumbs up

Good choice.

These tires cost about 5 percent more than Nitto INVO, but are a considerable handling improvement.

Had these one my Vr6 vw for awhile before I sold it and they were hands down the best handling tires I've ever owned. Tryin to wear out these damn falkens that came on my z so I can buy another set. And in all honesty i really like the tread pattern.

I highly disagree with blueblur Ive had 2 sets now of KDW's and the first set lasted 20K miles, and thats with laying patches of rubber down in 2nd and 3rd gear everywhere! Anything from -2.2 to -1 camber these wore down great.

I run a 275/295 combo now, I used to run 255/285/35 on 9.5/10.5" wheels, but your rear seems to pudge more than mine did. How wide are your wheels?

I cant even hear the road noise due to my loud a$$ exhaust, to me thats not a deal breaker for traction. Ive had them 173mph GPS verified they are great tires for the $$$

Maybe I was incorrect about the treadwear and the longevity although I know they won't last as long as the cheap Nexxens I have at the moment.

I think mine did last about 20,000+ miles now that I think about it.

What does a set of KDWII's go for nowadays on 19's?

Mine are 255/35/19 front
275/35/19 rear

about $1380.00 If I remember correctly.. mounted, balanced and road hazard..
