Default Painted my stock rims black + brake calipers :D red

Hey guys, adding to the blacked out tail lights job my friend and I did recently, I just wanted to ask for your opinions on the job we did on my car yesterday. We painted the stock rims black and the calipers red. Here are the materials we used:
Sander
2 Cans of Black Engine Enamel Paint, Low Gloss
2 Cans of Black Sandable Primer
2 Cans of VHT Wheel Coating Clear Coat (only really needed one)

I think all of this cost around $50...

As a side note we didn't just spray the rims while they were on the car, we actually jacked the entire car up and took all four wheels off. Here are the pics

Lol yeah I wanted to expand my horizons so I posted it on other forums as well, and I used engine enamel paint because I saw it on the internet and it seemed to work well and my local shops didn't have the specific wheel paint.

im not a big fan of painted calipers (especially red ones). If you want some better brakes, you are better off looking for a set of brakes off the 06+ 350z, they should be pretty affordable in the FS section. They are 2 piston bolt up and bigger than your stock ones.

Also spray paint doesnt do much for brake calipers, you should remove them and get them powder coated (or at least do that for the next set).

Im too lazy to paint mine and i actually just want bigger nicer brakes so im looking for the brembo bbk. I find painting small calipers exaggerates how small they really are

Rims look good tho.

You should try to use the 3m headlight smoke film, just in case you want to remove it later. Again you will find out the pros and cons of cheap mods after the fact.

Have fun with the car, just try not to get too carried away with small mods

Sorry man I'm not a fan of this at all.

You should paint the wheels a gloss or flat black and return the calipers to stock, this just cheapens the car IMO

Congratulations on ruining a perfectly good set of wheels and calipers.

I cannot possibly grasp how/why you conceived that this was a good idea
on any level whatsoever. Life is about learning, and hopefully this post in
your thread will make you think again before destroying your beautiful car.

not a fan of the calipers, i probly would've had those powder coated if at all, but i do think you did a good job on the wheels.

Lol thanks for the compliments and criticisms, but I however think it looks pretty good and I think I did a good job considering it took only $50 and 3 1/2 hours... Anyway these will be my "winter set" for now since it's October already and come spring of next year I'll have some fresh black 18" or 19" black rims with a red lip.

Many members do not have the bucks for fancy wheels and big brakes. If this is what you want than its good with me.

Thanks for understanding lol, I basically aimed for making my car unique at a reasonable price since there are a few Z's in my area... And I didn't "destroy a beautiful car", it's only the rims (which can be replaced easily) it's not like I painted the car lime green and put flame decals on the side... -_-

I would throw on some spacers at least, 25mm rear and 20mm front. Looks ok to me. Paint looks pretty good and smooth on the wheels.

I have a beater 300ZX with stock Z 17's on it painted black with Engine Enamel. I get compliments on the car more then my 350Z.

Yeah I was definitely planning the spacers as my next mod, the sunken wheels annoy me so much... And thanks for the compliment!

That's funny btw lol
