BTW: Your rear tires should be 275/35-19” (and not the 30 profile you have)

It would look bad. Go with a small drop.

I have the Nismo catalogue in front of me. It says the S-Tune suspension is a little stiffer than stock to maintain great ride quality. It mentions nothing about lowering.

OP, If that's actually your friends car in the picture then I'm surprised he ran that setup without VDC acting up

I agree with Toby.... this stuff makes no sense. HA

will it look dumb?
that would be a matter of opinion.
I have my 19's on at stock height and while I like how the car looks (over the stock wheels). I will be much happier when I get my new coils to lower it.

Pic as it sits now (settled a little lower after that pic - was jacked up for about a day right before that pic was taken)

Photoshopped to how I hope it to sit in a couple months.

I m at stock height as well but i have a bodykit. Without the kit the gap was more noticable imo. Old pic i now have the front lip & i always get comments about whats my drop is

I suppose it's preference, individual taste, and what's fashionable.

You missed the point in my response to your response to my initial response. Got that?

Since you “bolded” every point, I assume you disagree with all of these.

My first two points are certainly arguable since these address preference, and that is something you can debate forever without arriving at a correct answer.

My third point is based in actual experience. I do scrape more with a lowered car. Lower equals more scrapes when driving on the street. I doubt that anyone would argue this point.

I'll give you the last word.

The car already sits low, and looks fine with stock suspension with aftermarket wheels of any size (with proper height tires.)

Thanks for the nice comment in regards to my rear lip.

Details - it's an Elia rear lip that I had moulded into my rear bumper. Elia is based out of Germany. Not too many of these in NA as I believe only 4 of these made it state side. I bought it off another member. PM me if you want more details.

Sorry to thread jack.

I think the car would look better with a drop, but it's not 100% essential. The Z still looks good without a drop. Some people can't drop the car because the roads might be poor around their area. I've had my car for almost 2 years and have thought about giving it a tiny drop, maybe 1/2 an inch.

Pics with no drop:

I have 19" CEs on my G35. Still on stock suspension. As soon as I took off my OEMs and put on my Volks, I immediately thought, dammnit I need suspension for my 4x4.
With wider wheels and lower offsets on stock suspension it just has that look.

That being said, most people think it looks just fine and I have gotten compliments and thumbs up from a lot of people that I never used to with OEM wheels. It's a matter of good vs better.

LMs on your G will look good, no doubt. With a lowered stance it will look better, no doubt there either. Remember the enemy of good is better and thus don't let a lack of suspension prevent you from putting on a sweet set of BBS's. Just save up and get suspension later.

For reference, two shots of my G with stock suspension and CEs. You be the judge:

And what it would look like with suspension (psed):
