Default Front wheel weights: Does it really matter?

Considering its a RWD car, would it only affect handeling and not acceleration?

It is still something keeping the motor from moving. EVERYTHING keeps the motor from moving. That's the game. Make the motor able to move more weight and make the weight the motor has to move less.

whether it is directly connected or not, as the car moves foward all 4 wheels must rotate, and that means all 4 require energy to put in motion.

It definately affects braking, you have to stop that mass from rotating.
