About to change tires on the Z33 Nismo. Going to upsize from 245.40.18/265.35.19 to 265.35.18/295.30.19 on stock forged RAYS (already checked that rears are taller than the fronts so no TCS issues).
It's a no brained but I have to be practical also. I live in an all season area so maybe A/S tires are the right choice.
EC DWS
-wider on the rear than the PSS (by .3" but PSS has much larger contact patch)
-surprisingly, they weigh less than the PSS
-cheaper by $300
-better treadlife
-the more practical choice
PSS
-cheaper than the PS2 but performs just as well with better treadlife
-ridiculous wet and dry performance with a ton of grip
-stiffer sidewall than EC DWS
Yeah I know there is no contest, I should get the PSS. but it would be nice to drive the Nismo occasionally when the weather is bad. On the other hand, the Nismo is garaged and I take public transportation to work and I live in walking distance of everywhere I need to go. So there really isn't much need to drive in the winter.
What would you all do?

i always try to upgrade if im having to fork out money. Otherwise youre just replacing worn items and adding to the cost of keeping the car as it is.. and thats not a good idea to me when you can adda bit and have a better driving experience, and this is why you own a Nismo.
I have the Pilot Super Sports on my car and absolutley love them. The extra cost should be made up for in tire life. I got mine from Americas Tire / Discount Tire and theres a 30k mile warranty on the fronts/ 15k on the rears.
Also, I got invited by Michelin to test these tires out at a track out here in So Cal. We drove 328is w/ the DWS and the PSS, and they were no contest, way better. Also compared the PSS to the Pirelli Pzero neros on a lexus isf on a road course, and the difference was night and day.
I would say spend the extra money and get good tires =]

I'm sick of buying expensive tires constantly, athough my car is a daily driver. I went with extreme contact dws and they've been great. I've changed the type of tire every time I've ever had to change tires, but I'll likely stay with the DWS tires from now on. The cost is decent, performance is fine for a DD, and the treadlife is awesome.
