Question how wide can i go...?

So i found myself an '08 Z base model that i plan 2 purchase in the next 6mo. or less, now i know what most of ya'll are thinking; this guy must be a Z noob?, well i am, but right now im just looking for information for future reference, 'cause i WILL end up owning a Z pretty soon. so heres my question i have that i have yet to find an answer for, how wide can i go on 19's without having to roll my fenders? the narrowest tires i wanna run is F: 235/40 & R: 265/40 with the widest running F: 265/30 & R: 295/30. any info should be of help. thanks in advance.

Id wait until you actually have the car before you make plans for it...as for your answer, there are a lot of variables, search the forums a bit more.

Rolling fenders is such a simple/inexpensive thing to do. Why not do it and you will have such a bigger window you can play with as far as sizes. When I say simple I don't mean it's actually simple to do. I'm just saying you can do it without spending alot of money and you get a better result as far as aggressive sizes. If your near NJ theres a dude I know here that does a whole car for like $100. If your going for that aggressive look your gonna have to! No biggie tho!! Spend the time and DO RESEARCH before you do it. Ya don't want to do it twice.

Just plan on rolling the rear fenders (fronts are rolled from factory) to be safe if your going to lower your car with bigger sized tires. Look in the aggressive wheels and fat tire thread and read. It has a lot of useful info. Heres the link...

Take it easy. 6 months is still far away (2012). You could end up buying a different car.
If you do buy a Z, there would be plenty of help here

With a roll 305/30 is easy to do, then a 275/30 or 285/30 front. Honestly since i am in Wichita Falls right now, i would focus more on moving that buying and building a Z

the amount you can/can't get away with depends on many things

1. your rideheight
2. your exact tire choice - the size on the tire means next to nothing, as a tire from one manufacturer (let's say a Toyo 285/35/19) can have substantially different dimensions vs a 285/35/19 Michelin or Bridgestone
3. your alignment specs - Z's come with a range from the factory that is considered "normal" - where yours falls into the mix has a lot to do with whether it will/won't rub

Wow. I almost forgot this was the internet when I saw these responses.

Funny that this post gets the time of day.

The fact that you don't want to roll fenders on a car you don't own
is a bit funny to me.

I now run 285 front (have run 295 front) and 315 rear. Wide, high-offset, wheels allow this to happen. If you get some -85 wheels, don't come crying that they don't fit with big tires. There is an entire thread dedicated to big tires; start reading.

Ha. I saw that he said 265/295 max. I was simply indicating that he could fit those sizes that he wanted without any fender funny business (and that larger actually did fit).

ha ha ha, what are ya, a comedian? lol, but seriously, I AM going to end up with a Z & it might happen sooner than i expect. i said earlier it might be 6 months before i end up with one BUT that was before i knew my dad was actually going to support me on my choice of car. I've showed him the pics of the car i found on the dealers website & when he saw that the particular one i'm interested in and how little miles it had, then he saw the price & was like "I will help you the best way I can" then i was complety shocked that he said that. i'm 20 & dont have a license yet, but have scheduled an ADE class for the 27th & will be taking the actual driving test the week after...another reason i havent got my license yet is 'cause i rarely get weekends off so with me working 9 to 5 for five or six days of the week, there's not much room to do what needs to be done to get a license in my case. So i could be getting the beloved Z as soon as the first week of September.

Good luck. Hope everything goes right for you to start enjoying your ride.
Actually nothing wrong with dreaming about what you plan doing to it.
There is so much you can do to the Z. Depends on the wallet.
It is very easy to go upwards of 10k within a year. Keep working
