Rims And Tires

Rims And Tires
Alright so I've been searching to buy a pair of wheels for my car. I have looked through all of the options. I have a brickyard so I tested out all the different tones of rims such as gunmetal, chrome, black, and hyper silver. I have come to feel that hyper silver pops the most on a brickyard. I also read that the stock wheel for the 350z is 18in for the touring. Granted, I have never seen my car in person due to being overseas so I can't get a good look at how the car sits. I believe my car to be stock. I am currently looking at the Enkei Falcon's in hyper silver, but even after searching I am not completely sure what "offset" refers to and what spacers do exactly and if I would need them? Basically what I am saying is that I am completely clueless even after searching for a few days. Opinions on the wheels them self, if 18 inch is good or if I should pay the extra 300 dollars and get 20in, the spacers needed (if any) and any other details to make my shopping from overseas easier. I appreciate any help given. Thanks

That's the current set up I'm looking at for the enkeis. It is roughly 1260. I'm open to suggestions to better choices in that price range. I'm willing to spend 2-3 hundred more if it is truly a nice set. And what do you mean the wheel offsets won't be low enough for you?

Of course when it comes to wheels(and most everything else),you are gonna get a different opinion from every guy you ask.IMO,you are correct in looking at a hyper-silver,
or a very light,hyper-black for your brickyard. Some shades of bronze would also look good.First,is a spoke/star design the look you want?Again, this is a matter of taste. The wheel you are looking at is very close to a stock Z wheel(from a distance). Is this what you want?Or,do you want something more distinctive?I personally like a mesh type design if you are going with a silver/hyper black.
I'm running ACE STRADAS,take a look at these. The hyper-black is very light...more of a rich alloy look.Your pic shows a 17" wheel. So,you want to go to a different size wheel &tire?Again,my suggestion is go to a 19".A good workable offset is:20front,25rear.You could add spacers if you want more of a flush look.Alot depends on the wheel choice/design.If you go with 19's,a good combo for the tires would be:245/35/19front,275/35/19rear.Hankook v-12's are a tire to consider.
Good luck and stay safe!

Your tire size won't work. The Z RUNS A "STAGGERED" set up.The rear tire is a bit taller than the front(about 1/2").Also,the rear wheel is wider. The OEM size
for 18's is:225/45/18 front,245/45/18 rear.If you are staying with 18's(depending on the new wheel width)an upgrade that would work is:
255/40/18 front,275/40/18 rear.

OP is in Afghanistan..
take a look thru this and see what look you like the most, then look sfor similar offset wheels.
Its a starting point.. most likely the wheels you see will be far outside your budget, but at least youl have fitment sizes and offset specs for what you like. and then can make a thread looking for a cheap wheel in x size with X offsets..
youl go much farther that way, and youll learn alot about wheels in the meantime, and also kill alot of time while sitting around getting shot at in the sandbox.

The picture you posted of a wheel looks horrible, and will look horrible on your Z.
You need to do some serious research, start by using google. Ask google some questions.
"how does the weight of my wheels affect performance?"
"how does the weight of my wheels affect braking distance?"
"what does wheel offset mean?"
"where can I get a clue?"
And for the love of God, stop making threads.

Q: What wheel sizes and offsets do I need?
A: Generally speaking, there are a LOT of different combinations that people are running on their Z or G.
Let's get the basics out of the way first: You need a lug pattern of 5x114.3, width between 8 and 11 inches, and diameter of 17", 18", 19", or 20".
Here are some of the more popular wheel and tire sizes (for good reason) that people put on their Z's. There is no "RIGHT" answer but there is a limit to how big or small you can go.
18" combination:
Front 18" x 8.5" , Offset +15 to +25, Tires 245/40/18
Rear 18" x 9.5" , Offset +15 to +25, Tires 275/40/18
(lower offset such as +10 in rear is possible but may require rolling)
Front 18" x 9.5" , Offset +25 to +30, Tires 255/40/18
Rear 18" x 10.5" , Offset +28 to +35, Tires 285/40/18 or 295/35/18
(lower offset such as +23 in the rear is possible but may require rolling)
19" combination:
Front 19" x 8.5" , Offset +15 to +25, Tires 245/35/19
Rear 19" x 9.5" , Offset +15 to +25, Tires 275/35/19
(lower offset such as +10 in rear is possible but may require rolling)
Front 19" x 9.5" , Offset +25 to +30, Tires 255/35/19 or 265/35/19
Rear 19" x 10.5" , Offset +23 to +32, Tires 285/35/19 or 295/35/19
(lower offset such as +23 or wider tires in the rear is possible but may require rolling)
From this, you get the idea of what is required to go with smaller wheels like 17's, (typically lighter, faster acceleration), or bigger wheels like 20's (bigger, heavier, usually makes you feel slower).
Get to know how to use the following tools and you will be able to figure out for yourself the correct offsets and tire sizes you need:

Certain combinations of LOW OFFSET and/or WIDE WHEELS will require what is known as "fender rolling" or "fender cutting".
If you are not familiar with the term "fender rolling", here is a quick but useful lesson you can learn in a couple of minutes: Go outside to wherever your Z is parked. Run your fingers along the inside edge of a REAR fender just above your tires. You will feel a sharp edge and a flap of metal sticking inward towards the car. Now, go up to the FRONT fender, and feel the inside of the fender again. You should notice that the flap of metal has been "rolled" upwards on the front fenders. This is exactly what fender rolling is all about. The rear fenders will need to be rolled to make room for wide wheels or low offsets, or else your tires may rub on the metal when you take hard corners or hit bumps. Any experienced wheel/tire shop should know how to roll a fender. If you go to a shop that does not seem like they know what they're doing, get out of there.
