Quicker Steering Ratio
I'm really ready to do something about steering ratio on my Z. I don't like the fact that sometimes to make tight 90d turn I have to switch my hands because I need to turn steering wheel more than 180d. That's really a lot of hand movement for simple task. And than, it'll really help my autocross runs...
I'd really like to make steering ratio 2/3 of what it is now. Any ideas what to do? How can it be adjusted/changed?
Thanks.

BJ, are you really okay with Z's steering ratio? I've never driven real race car, but I can imagine things are different there. At least I can see in F1 bolids they they have 180 degrees lock-to-lock. I'm not asking for 180, but little tighter than we have would be nice. My Mercedes SUV steering wheel seems to have same ratio as Z...
Yes my backround is in mostly sports racers and open wheel cars and on the track .......with some adjustability.....I have found the Z to be very nice as far as truning response......On the track if you have to use more than a wrist to wrist .......something isnt working.
On a big track the Z's ratio is very good.
On an AutoX, well, I can understand why some might want it a bit tighter. Luckily, I've driven trucks as all my previous vehicles, so the the Z is feeling pretty good to me.
One thing to try (other than a new steering rack) is to change tactics from a road racing fixed grip steering method, to something more along the lines of a "shuffle" steering method. Basically you make about a maximum of 45-60 degree turn of the wheel before you bring your hands back to your "home" position. So you make many small alternating movements with your hands, but the wheel makes nice, smooth, large movements.
It's something that I got used to while driving my pickups, and I think they teach that method in the BMW schools, but I'm not sure about that.
Anyway, it might be worth a shot for those tight turns when you find yourself getting wound up.
