Default Painting Wheels?

Hey, I have Black Dub rims on my Z and I would like to paint a small stripe around the edge of the rims to match my Daytona Blue 350. I want to know if anybody has done this themselves and if so what paint did you use? how did you do it? and How does it look?

Please post pics of said "Black Dub rims"

Based on what I assume these look like, people (me included) will probably tell you to sell them and get proper wheels.

But in all seriousness, there is companies that make lip kits for rims as an alternative to paint. Or you can mask off the rim and tape a perfect edge then spray it.

What is a black dub rim?
Is this a Canadian thing?
On the trim stripes, there are vinyl stripe
kits available in every color. Some have
graphics.Originally these were intended for
bike use.The kits come in various wheel diameters.
Easy to apply....standard is 4 individual pieces
that link together. One vendor is STICKER CITY.COM.
They have stripes in all wheel sizes.
Or,do a search under wheel trim kits.

Oh wowzers!

I would suggest you get the wheels painted from a professional, can we see what they look like?

If you must then get these, it's removable so when you get sick of them it will be an easy fix.

if you decide to paint and since you posted this I would not recommend you do this because i seriously doubt your painting skill
1) painters tape
2) sandpaper
3) engine enamel 500 degree rattle can (make sure you get the brand that has a tip that can be sprayed at any angle you will thank me later)

the hardest part will be applying a clear if you have gloss "black dub rims", because you will probably have to clear the whole wheel(this means a good amount of sanding to remove the clear/prep surface to apply paint, but not to much as to remove the black). if they are matte "black dub rims" then no clear needed, but your paint will be vulnerable to chipping even more then they already will. just ask yourself "am i willing to repeatedly repaint my wheels" because you will have imperfections and they will chip.
https://my350z.com/forum/wheels-and-...nt-wheels.html this should help
the forum needs a video about painting wheels that is similar to the FI video

I was about to post this haha. Blue vinyl is the way to go when adding pinstripes yourself. Easily removable and easily accessible.
