Where are Axis made? Someone told me they are made in China. I was also told that after 6 months the clear coat starts to come right off. I was thinking of getting some Axis wheels but don't want them if they are going to be a problem later...Can anyone elaborate or confirm?

well seeing as no one in the US has had them for 6 mos (hiros). i'd have to say BS . mine are fine after having them for 3 months. guarantee these rumors came from volk owners.

Why would you say that? What makes you think any Volk owners give a $hit about Axis wheels? You're comparing diamonds with glass.

The only thing I proved was that Axis owners (or maybe just you) must be pretty damn insecure about their wheels to have to attack someone who made a different choice.

Wow.....you guys really have a complex, huh? Okay......keep telling each other how great your wheels are and maybe someday you'll actually believe it! Can you say: cheap, cast, and HEAVY? C'mon......I know you can.

last time i checked 26 lbs is not 'heavy'. they used a new casting process for the hiros which makes them stronger and lighter than regular cast rims.

as for zztop's comments, with every post he just keeps proving my point about the likely origin of the negative comments about Axis rims. personally my ego isn't wrapped up in my rims so i have nothing to prove to anyone. I do think Axis rims are a good deal for the money. No, they aren't the best built rims out there but for someone like me that can't justify spending more on rims when the Hiros are some of the best looking rims out there (IMHO), they make alot of sense. I'll never understand the rim snobs on this site. I make very good money, own my own house and an investment property, 3 cars, stocks/bonds, have a watch collection worth more than most people spend on cars, yet i am somehow cheap and lame because i didnt spend an extra grand on rims. truly pathetic zztop. get a life.

... sigh...

complex? look in a mirror... how many times have axis wheel owners bashed volk rims? none... it's always the other way around with people offering comments about how their volk (or what have you) rim is better quality than everyone elses

... then why are you reading and posting in this thread? It's called "New Axis Hiro Wheels", not "Volks"... so it looks like you DO care

but heck, as an axis wheel owner, your'e right... VOLK IS BETTER... you get what you pay for, but everyone has their reasons for buying what they did, you don't need to criticize other people just because you made a different decision... in my case, it's because duties on rims in Canada marks up the price of ALL rims and tires by 40-50%... which means I payed the SAME amount as you payed for your volks except i get Axis... who knows, if you were in my situation you may have bought Volks too but i didn't happen to want to put down 9 grand into rims/tires

but you know what? it doesn't matter because in the end i'm happy with my Axis wheels and *visually* the quality is as good as any other wheel brand i've come across (including volk).

so please, i dont' mean to be harsh but just step down from your high horse and stop sticking your nose up at people... mind your own business, if you don't like axis wheels than keep it to yourself... you don't need to remind everyone that volk is better... everyone makes a wheel decision for their own reasons

Actually, I have no problem with Axis wheels. At one point, I was think about getting an extra set of disposable wheels and tires for roadtrips, alignments, etc., and I did consider Axis wheels.

I suggest you look back a few posts on this thread and see who started the smart a$$ remarks. It wasn't me, was it? But if you wish, I'll be happy continue to point out the differences between Volks and Axis wheels. Sorry there is such an unfair markup in Canada....too bad for you.

Living in Canada is like living on the second floor of a duplex, there is a great party happening on the first floor, and you're not invited. Nah.....just kidding. Love ya.

I didn't know there was such hatred between Volk and Axis....Its funny because the person that did tell me that about Axis was pushing me to buy Volk.

importhookup.com is where I received the info on Axis from on the telephone. I just don't want to spend money on something that won't last so that is why I asked.

I think the Axis Hiro's look great and the price is even better when comparing to Volk. I just wish someone with Axis wheels could confirm the rumor I heard to be BS.

amf813,

I have a set of Axis HIROs on my car. I have had them for several months. No signs of degredation yet. I know many other people with Axis wheels of all sorts who have had no problems for many years. Hope this helps.

does anyone know when the 10.5" rears for the Hiro's are coming out? I've been torn between the GT-C's and the Hiro's for quite some time now (both around the same weight/strength) and lately I've decided that I want a more aggressive stance and want the 10.5" rear...

also, what wheels can be ran on the front then if you do go with the 10.5" rear? the current 9.5" rear or the 8.5" front? I would ideally like the 9.5" front, but with a flat face and a little more lip...
