Of course, there are some loud-mouth-know-it-alls that will disparage other brands of wheels, but in general, I think most people are pretty respectful of everyone's choices. With over 20,000 memebers on this site, there are going to be some ***holes on here.

Well I agree and disagree with him. When I first joined there were a few guys that dogged anyone who didn't purchase those high-end rims and outrageously priced bodykits. I haven't seen them on here in awhile. But they are probably lurking around somewhere. You're always gonna have some of those in the bunch. And they usually can't even afford the rims that they ridicule others for not buying themselves. But you're right a$$holes in every bunch.

As for the rim question, I was looking at an issue of "Import Racer" last night and saw an ad for some R-1's I forget who makes them but they were on a Z and they looked pretty good. I really love those Axis rims too. Theose others (Volks, etc.) look nice but I probably wouldn't buy them. Out of my budget.

Spent last week in Vegas, won't log into my350Z.com on a dialup. so I've been slow responding....

No budget, although I don't want to go overboard either.
No racing, just riding around being an old fart in a shiny convertible.
But I do like technology, I'd like light wheels, but I live on a gravel road (yes, I have 3M all over the front!) so it should be reasonably strong.
I think gunmetal would be the best color choice for LS on a ZR

Having said all that, and going through all the replies (which I REALLY appreciate!) I am leaning towards forged 18" wheels, 5 to 7 spoke, and gunmetal or silver. To be on the safe side for warranty etc. I'm strongly considering NISMO.

Finally, I live in the western North Carolina mountains, so I don't know a good installer locally so I would prefer to buy wheels and tires, mounted and ready to install. But, the ZR is in the garage while there is snow and ice on the roads, so I have time to look around to find that perfect set of wheels.

Nismo is a solid choice. Might have to pay extra for gunmetal though. Not readily available I believe.

If you want gunmetal, you could try TE37's or LE37's. Jeff @ Evolution could probalby hook you up with wheels and tires, and he's not that far from you. I saw a set of gunmetal TE37's on a LS roadster at Sema, and the car looked great.
