I'm currently running 245 40 18 /// 275 40 18 setup but my driver rear tires got screwed today so I'm gonna replace both rears with a decent street tire for drag racing. I was looking at the Toyo R1R because of the soft compound but the only size they have is 265 35 18.

With 275 40 18 the diamater is 275/40/18 = 26.661 and 265 35 18 is 265/35/18 = 25.303 which is slightly smaller than 245/40/18 = 25.717 will this be okay to run or?

Any suggestions it seems any sticky tire with a soft compound doesn't come in 275 / 40 / 18

 

your not gonna get any real traction unless the tires have R-compound. So you better do your research and think twice about your next tires if not your only going to waist your money. I would recommend Toyo R888.

 

For an NA car , drag , hmmmm. What are your actual goals , still a daily car. Need more info.

 

Front tire is taller than rear. Will you be driving on the street with VDC "ON?"

 

Goals are get a decent tire in time to race next tuesday I will be running slicks next year anyway at the track.

If I keep the car it will get a BP kit.

Start looking at other sticky tires, Hankook RS3, Ecta XS etc etc , there are options. What size wheel are you running ?

My buddy works at a parts store and can get me Cooper RS3-S here today so I can race Tuesday looked up the reviews seems pretty good.

A lot of the race tires I looked at either aren't available where I am or theres no size for my wheel

 

Look into 285/35 , 275/40 and 265/40 you shoudl find something good. CooperRS3 LOL, i thought you want a sticky tire.

 

I am running 275 / 40 whats wrong with the RS3-S I read they were decent and I was running short on time if I want to get tires here on time to race Tuesday had to order something and everything else was all-season

 

So after finding out my rear driver tire was screwed I just checked my fronts and this is what I found.

What causes the front tires to wear like this I'm stock ride height ...

 

RS3s are what I put on customers hondas and cobalts. Not bad tires but in no way would I have them on my car unless I was doing burnouts at high school to be cool

 

Well I'm sure they stick better than an all-season I need tires to race Tuesday so I don't have many options there already ordered

 

Oh and alignment. Toe way off

 

As mentioned , toe is off, but most likely you have an LCA bushing destroyed and/compression arm bushing

 

VDC will not work with this tire set-up.

 

Looks like excessive camber. An alignment may help here.

 

I prefer Nitto 555R. They are made in that size.

 

Put it on the alignment rack today its in spec. I'm not lowered and I don't have adjustable camber arms so the camber should never really change, right?
