Rota Torque fitment help
Hey Everyone,
I am looking to get a set of torques,18x9.5 et20 (all 4) with 255/40 up front and 275/40 in the rear. I am riding on stock suspension and do not plan on lowering the car due to the atrocious road conditions here in NY. I am wondering if I will need fender work up front with those specs. Is anyone running this setup that could give me some input? I have searched for endlessly through out the forums and found people using this set up but no idea if they had any work done. I know the front fenders are rolled from the factory. Thanks any help would be greatly appreciated.

Anyway, do yourself a favor and read this whole FAQ thread
https://my350z.com/forum/2003-2009-n...questions.html
Taken directly from the FAQ:
Q: What wheel sizes and offsets do I need?
A: Generally speaking, there are a LOT of different combinations that people are running on their Z or G.
Let's get the basics out of the way first: You need a lug pattern of 5x114.3, width between 8 and 11 inches, and diameter of 17", 18", 19", or 20".
Here are some of the more popular wheel and tire sizes (for good reason) that people put on their Z's. There is no "RIGHT" answer but there is a limit to how big or small you can go.
18" combination:
Front 18" x 8.5" , Offset +15 to +25, Tires 245/40/18
Rear 18" x 9.5" , Offset +15 to +25, Tires 275/40/18
(lower offset such as +10 in rear is possible but may require rolling)
Front 18" x 9.5" , Offset +25 to +30, Tires 255/40/18
Rear 18" x 10.5" , Offset +28 to +35, Tires 285/40/18 or 295/35/18
(lower offset such as +23 in the rear is possible but may require rolling)
19" combination:
Front 19" x 8.5" , Offset +15 to +25, Tires 245/35/19
Rear 19" x 9.5" , Offset +15 to +25, Tires 275/35/19
(lower offset such as +10 in rear is possible but may require rolling)
Front 19" x 9.5" , Offset +25 to +30, Tires 255/35/19 or 265/35/19
Rear 19" x 10.5" , Offset +23 to +32, Tires 285/35/19 or 295/35/19
(lower offset such as +23 or wider tires in the rear is possible but may require rolling)
From this, you get the idea of what is required to go with smaller wheels like 17's, (typically lighter, faster acceleration), or bigger wheels like 20's (bigger, heavier, usually makes you feel slower).
Get to know how to use the following tools and you will be able to figure out for yourself the correct offsets and tire sizes you need:
Tire size calculator (click)
Wheel Offset Calculator
Certain combinations of LOW OFFSET and/or WIDE WHEELS will require what is known as "fender rolling" or "fender cutting".
If you are not familiar with the term "fender rolling", here is a quick but useful lesson you can learn in a couple of minutes: Go outside to wherever your Z is parked. Run your fingers along the inside edge of a REAR fender just above your tires. You will feel a sharp edge and a flap of metal sticking inward towards the car. Now, go up to the FRONT fender, and feel the inside of the fender again. You should notice that the flap of metal has been "rolled" upwards on the front fenders. This is exactly what fender rolling is all about. The rear fenders will need to be rolled to make room for wide wheels or low offsets, or else your tires may rub on the metal when you take hard corners or hit bumps. Any experienced wheel/tire shop should know how to roll a fender. If you go to a shop that does not seem like they know what they're doing, get out of there.

You were saying about NY roads and can't lower yada yada yada blah blah...
Stop with your cockamaimy excuses and just say you don't want to lower your car. You don't have to give people you don't know, a reason why you don't want to do something that you don't want to do to YOUR car. I hate that nonsense. /rant
As far as specs, in order to need a roll or pull of your fenders on stock suspension, you have to have ridiculously sized wheels. Something around the 22inch mark or 14+inches wide. Something completely off the mark of reasonable.

^lol get off your high horse with your "slammed" car. Everyone who has ever run a "slammed" car knows that the whole you can daily drive it like normal is complete horse ****. I guarantee you have a huge list of areas you can't go to with that car and almost everywhere else where you need to come to a near stop and take a huge, slow rolling angle at to get in. If you are fine with dealing with all that hassle, great for you, but that in no way should give you any feeling that you can hate on someone else for not wanting to cripple their car and ability to drive places without worrying. You don't even necessarily live anywhere near him, or drive in conditions like his, so get off your high horse - being slammed doesn't make you da suppaaa cool brah

Ill help ya out. I had 18x9.5 +20 all around. I had no pull or fenders rolled besides the fronts which are stock rolled from factory. With my car slammed like it is the rears were sunken in just a bit but the fronts looked pretty good. If u go low id recommend like 10-15mm spacer in the rear and maybe a 5-10mm in front and it would be flush and pretty nice.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate everyone's input, especially the pics. I was fairly confident about the fitment until a vendor insisted I would need fender work. Anyways, with regard to my not wanting to lower my car, I owned a Mazda 6 before this Z which I had lowered. While I do completely agree that it looks better, it required quite a lot of effort driving in order to ensure no "bottoming out" incidents. I had an exhaust on that car as well, and by the end of its life, the scratches, scuffs, and few dents that had accumulated on it from the obvious ride height was unacceptable (for me). I may consider lowering it in the future but as my DD I really want the looks with some comfort as well, hence the larger tire side walls.
Once again, thank you to everyone that provided their insight. I'll definitely post some pics after I buy and install them.

Are those gun metal? Also is your car chrome silver or silver stone? I have a silver stone and am going to get hyper black. I considered the gun metal, but I felt that the color combination wouldn't provide enough contrast.

2) Perhaps you should ride not only my route, but in my city and then tell me where I can and can't go. I drive my car any and everywhere I want to...in town...outta town...wherever. I didn't lower my car so it can sit still or stay in my driveway. I also drive aggressively at times. And when I don't, it's cuz I want to drive slow enough for people to see an Infiniti scrape with minimal ufcks given...cuz..well...c'mon whether you agree or disagree, you look. And anybody that says they don't want people to look at a car they've put time and effort into (slammed, raised, track ready, or pep boy special) is also full of horseshiit. And I've driven (along with other slammed cars) all over this state with little to no issue. So, if he's in NY, he can slam is car. Also, PA...VA...NC..NJ..these are states I've driven in with a slammed car, although I can't vouch for the entire states themselves.
3) No. I don't daily this car. Not including shows, I may put 1200ish miles a year on it. But I don't daily THIS car because it's a coupe and I have a family that will not fit in this car. However, I've been driving ridiculously low cars for over a decade now. Pretty sure this one is the lowest, but low isn't something I just stumbled upon when suburban kids with backwards baseball caps started saying things like "stanced out" and "hellaflush". Actually, right before "NOS" became a household name and Brian Earl Spillner had an Eclipse with 76 gears is when I started my lowness.
4) Me being me is what makes me cool. I don't know about supah dupah but cool. And, as a Toronto Police Officer said when trying to ticket awkward black comedian Hannibal Burress for j-walking, "I'm just a cool guy doing cool things trying to be cool".
5) I hate horses. especially high ones. So you'll never find me on one.
