Default Best Bang for Buck Lightweight wheel?

Hey guys, I am looking for some lightweight track wheels.

I know the enkei rpf1's is a very popular track wheel because of the price and weight.

But what else compares? I am looking for a square 18x9.5 setup

RPF1 18x9.5 is around 17.5lbs i believe, at ~$350 per rim.

Thanks...

I don't think anything compares to the RPF1s in terms of lightweight and bang for the buck... Only thing I can think of are MB Battles.. They're 18x9.5 +15 weighs 21.6lbs. But isn't much cheaper, if any at all, than the RPF1s.

~22lbs is heavy for 18x9.5's......and honestly, I've heard the MB's in that size are closer to 23-24.

The new line of TSW wheels are pretty light from what I hear. TSW Nurburing 18x10.5 weighed in at 20.6 lbs. I'd imagine they have a 9/9.5 too.

Rota wheels are about 21 pounds in those sizes, and will also take a beating.

I have a square RPF1 18x10.5 setup, i really dont think you can beat the weights and price on the RPF1's...

Weds are going to be pricey, and TE37s are redic!

I have yet to find a wheel the same size and weight as my setup for a comparable price. I think my 18x10.5's weighed in around 18 and change IIRC

I thought it was pretty evident he was suggesting Rotas for their price and weight.

Regardless, I just bought 18x9.5+22 Gramlight 57DR's and in hindsight I should have just went with RPF1's. You can get them for like 1200 shipped through vendors on here, which is pretty cheap compared to all the other wheels out there. Or just do what terrasmak suggested and get rotas if rpf1's are too much. Contrary to forum hype, they're pretty stout and can take a beating.

Only way to go lighter then 18" rpf1 is to go 17" rpf1.

I was looking at these.. They look better, but run ~525 each.

Do you use 18x10.5 fronts at the track? If so, do you have any clearance or rubbing issues(how much camber/ how low is your car)? I thought that size was too big for fronts on a circuit. Maybe I am wrong.

Thanks for the input, I think I just read his comment incorrectly...

RPF1 is in my price range, but i wanted to get some opinions for other choices before I buy.

I have yet to do any “grip” days at the track, but I have done some drifting on the skid pad and I havent had any problems.

I am running 265 40 18 all the way around, all I had to do was remove some of the screws on the fender for the fender liner and roll the front fenders a bit. All I did was basically just sqeeze and pull with my hands a bit and it was fine. I am about as low as my megan coilovers will let me go without messing with the preload on the springs so I guess you could say I am pretty low haha.

Keep in mind im still running stock upper camber arms, so with some aftermarket arms and an aggressive Camber setup on the front would definitely make it more than “safe” with 10.5 upfront. It also really depends on tire selection and size.

IIRC Scott on here has ran 275 or 285’s upfront with no problem, maybe someone can correct me if im wrong…

This is what an 18x10.5 +15 RPF1 with a 275/35 tire looks like at stock height.

Since the Z comes with a semi-roll in the front from factory, lowering on coils and running more camber for the track would work fine with the 275/35 tire size.

If you're really that worried, many Z owners run an 18x9.5 +15 front / 18x10.5 +15 rear staggered setup.

Just get RPF1's, square/staggered/dealer's choice.

I run 18x10.5 all around and 285/35-18 all around. Its all about how much camber you run, grip/drift cars normally run over -3 up front.

Rota also makes a 18x10 in +20 , that would be a very ideal wheel to run all round. 10 is actually a better width for 275's.

Do you know what camber setting is in that pic? I'm going with a square setup to help the understeering problem.

Hmm... I plan on using 275/35/18 all around. So I can rotate and swap non-directional tires to maximize tire life for track.

I was thinking about that actually.. 18x10 rpf1 with 275/35/18 all around. I don't want to run too much camber though, Maybe around ~1.5-2 max. Do you know if that would work?

Thx everyone for input. I just got a Z as my track car.
Anyone know a minimum offset I need on an rpf1 to clear the stock brembos?
