I just got my 285/35/19's mounted on my rear wheels 19x10.75 +15mm offset and the mechanic who put on the tire said it doesn't look right, is this normal for the tire to look like this? or did he not put it on right or something?

285's should fit a 10.75 width rim correct?

I would say yes if the following is true:

1. Does the tire hold up to 40 psi of air?
2. Is it beaded?
3. Does the tire have full contact with the road?
4. Will it fit when its mounted on your car?

if the answer is yes, then sir, you are good to go.

 

285 on a 10.75 is called a "stretch" you are flexing the sidewall of the tire when you stretch it. Its a baby stretch though. nothing extreme like some people out there. im running at 275 series on my 10.5.. Theres no major issues.,

Is this a brand new wheel? looks like it might be slightly bent or was mounted wrong.

I would not call that a stretch at all, 285 is completely normal

 

Looks kike a asymmetrical tire with a rim protector on the outside side of the tire. Can't really tell though since the pic is small and taken poorly.

 

Go to the tire manufacturer website and find the specs of your tire in that particular size. One of the columns will show you recommended range of wheel widths. If your wheel width is over the maximum value, it can be considered stretched.

 

The tire looks fine. Never let newbs work on your car. That's not even stretched.. I have a 245/30 on my 19x10.5 +0 wheel and its fine.

 

285/35 is a very slight stretch on a 10.5 , you have a hair more. No big deal, there is nothing to worry about.

Your 285 is a narrow tire, not all 285's are equal.

 

What he said. The tire is 285 mm wide . The wheel is 273 mm wide. Mounted it doesn't look like the numbers. But if it works it works.

Its a bit stretched-not much compared to others I've seen.
I'm a bit old school I guess.Prefer a flat sidewall.I'd have put a wider tire
or,use a bit narrower wheel.

 

I have ran 275's on my 12 J's and was fine. I run 285's on my 10.5 all day

 

This. Rim protector only on outside sidewall.

 

I'm picking up a set of 05 track wheels this weekend. they are 8.5" for the rear. will a 295/45/18 be okay

Ya that looks like an asymmetrical tire. and you can run up to 305+ on that 10.5 wheel if you want.
