...and we wonder why the world is full of self entitled little *****...My first car was a $400 1980 Mazda GLC 4spd manual. Your *** got wet sitting in the backseat and it smelled like mold. I wrecked it the 1st month I had it. If i had a RWD sportscar, I would probably have killed myself and a few friends in it. But guess what, you learn from your mistakes and you learn to appreciate something really nice once YOU WORK HARD TO DESERVE IT.

Not being a butt about it. My parents had plenty of money and nice vehicles themselves, but also knew the value of hard work and earning what you want. My daughter is turning 16 in a couple years....I make good money, have a g35, a Titan and my Z....but guess what...she isnt getting a RWD sports car, or anything super nice. Whatever $$ she puts into it, I will match., so probably a reliable but ugly late 90's 200sx/sentra/corolla.

It's not my kid, so he can do what he wants. I had a 5.0 mustang when I was 16 and an Irish father. He basically said if I get one ticket he'd beat the living snot out of me. Never had a ticket.

i would have killed or seriously injured myself if i had a powerful RWD car when i learned to drive. sure, i was normally smart, and cautious, but my young nature got me to push the pedal to the metal a few times. luckily it was an 87 Honda Accord, and would barely top 100. i know, i tried to max it out. got a ticket for 92 in a 70, and that was the end of my stupid days. kind of. i may push it once in a while, but only when im at risk. besides, i have a Ninja as well, so if i want to have fun thats the machine to do it on. all leathered up, of course...ATGATT.
if my dad would have gotten me an NSX or 350 for me, you better believe i would be on my best behavior in it. its nice that youre doing that for your kids. sometimes a father does that because they themselves didnt have the opportunites that their kids have. as long as theyre brought up right, and understand the value of things, i see nothing wrong. but let the boy decide what he wants done to the car IMO. and put the parts on together...itll be a bonding experience! one i wish i could have had with my dad, but i wasnt into cars until after he passed.
pics of the NSX!!!!??

The 350z is already a beautiful car straight off the showroom floor and I think you have already done enough just buying one for him. Im 23 and have the utmost respect for the power of this car despite having been driving/racing since I was 16. It has ample power for me but can still get a bit hairy if you arent careful, especially in wet weather. I busted my *** to get my Z. Im a firm believer in hard work and do believe it makes you appreciate it that much more. To be honest I would leave the car exactly the way it is and let him build it himself his way. It will teach him the value of hard work and instill a sense of accomplishment and pride when he gets it finished. Youve been generous enough to provide him the blank canvas, leave it up to him to turn it into art.

lol you guys are worried about a 18 year old driving a sports car. Ive been driving a 30 foot truck on the freeways the week i got out of highschool (i was 18). I got my Z when I was 18, im 19 right now... If the kid knows how to drive safe, I dont see a problem. Let your son pick his wheels, personalize it himself and have to work to do so, you cant hand him everything in life.

everyone that rags on 18 yr olds driving a 350z. let me tell you something not everyone is an idiot when it comes to driving. just because you where once that kid that tried to show off and crashed cause YOU didnt know how to drive and may still not know how to drive and think the 350z has way to much power for a kid to handle is wrong. am 21 now and have owned my 350z since i was 19. i bought my car cash with my own money, modded it with my own money and i havnt crashed. i for one think the 350z doesnt have enough power. if your the type to take corners going 30+ mph or speed in the rain especially if you dont know how conditions of your tires then thats poor judgment on the driver itself. most owners of 350z are adults ( 21+) and are crashing these cars left and right. so you cant just blame 18 yr olds

1 thing i forgot to mention my 1st car was a hand down from my older brother. mazda 626 that we brought up the rpm idle of the car due to it dying out. so the car itself was like on roids (nothing crazy though) and seeing as its not his 1st car driving he should be fine. lets just hope he doesnt brag about it like a buddy of mine. his dad got him a brand new 2013 str. the dads paying for the car, insurance, gas, and gives him a monthly allowance. yet my buddy thinks "life" is easy and regrets not getting the srt8. talk about spoiled

Welcome to nub central. GTFO - no one cares what your first car was. OP isn't asking for parenting advice or what car he should buy his kid.
OP, I'm with trav. With that offset, you're going to rub harder than most of these goobers when they're home alone.

back to the fitment... I highly recommend rolling your fenders anyways just so you can keep your alignment in spec to prevent the tires from wearing out faster. IF you lower your car the Z will have a natural camber. Which is nice and all but 19's can be pretty expensive tires. im buying a set of WORK LS406 for my Z and it is a 19x8.5 +22 and a 19x10+22 not as aggressive.. Im also running a 245/4019 and a 265/35/19. i got a 15 mm spacer for the fronts so it wont be sunk in.
MY CURRENT setup is 20x9.5 +45 and 20x10.5 +25...and i had to run a NEGATIVE 4.4 camber in the rear to prevent rubbing on my UNROLLED fenders... i went through a set of rear tires in 3 months. waste of 400 dollars right there..
but seems like money isnt an option..
NICE WHEEL CHOICE BTW.

Lucky kid to get an nsx when he was 16. My dad had a 91 NSX when i was 16. lol.
My first car was a boosted t3/t4 acura integra GSR eagle rods/pistons etc.. built up to 280/300 whp depending on boost. I had when i was 16.
Traded that for a 1JZ-GTE SC300 with a gt28r had about 355 whp on high boost. had til i was about 18-20.
Traded that for a 240sx s14 kouki with a sr20det blacktop.. my drift sled..
Sold that and then purchased a 2004 350ZR with 19k miles on FEB 2013. (Hopefully boosted by christmas this year) >.<
