Hey Guys, Need a little help. I just bought a 2004 350Z for my son 18th birthday and I want to fixed it first before I give it to him in 3 weeks. I was wondering if a 19x8.5 with 15MM offset with 2 inch lip front and 19x10 with 15MM offset with 3 inch lip rear. Planning to use 245 35 19 and 275 30 19 tires with 1.25 inch drop. Will this setup work without the tries rubbing on the fender.

 

i am 18x9.5 +15 on my rear with a 275/40 tire and i was rubbing and had to roll the fenders. others on here can give you more insight with 19s, i am not that familiar with them

Put 19x10 all around.

 

the main thing is the offsets.... and not everyone wants a square setup....

Those will extend 40mm past stock wheels(rears). I would personally wouldn't go 30mm past on rears for practicality reasons and not having to roll fenders

I have been running 19" WHEELS with a bit smaller lips...1" front,2" rear.
Rear wheel 1/2" smaller in width than your selection.Running 245/35 front,275/35 rear.
Offsets at 20 front&rear.Not lowered due to body aero mods.
Its perfect for all driving conditions.
You may have a problem with the rear.
I also question your 18 yr old son running into driving problems for everyday speed bumps,curbs,steep drives etc with that drop you are planning.
I also have a mesh design wheel.Not available in black.Only hyper-black,
Ace Strada's.
What brand tires?
I recommend Hankook V-12's

You realize that you just bought your 18 year old son what is currently reported by the IIHS as the #1 (by a large margin) most deadly car in the USA?

You guys need to have a long, LONG talk about responsibility before he gets the car. And then YOU need to think about YOUR motivation for buying your son, who is in all likelihood an inexperienced driver, such an easy-to-kill-yourself-in vehicle.

The centerbore diameter for the 350Z is 66.1mm, not 73.1. You can probably get spacers, but why not get it to fit right from the get-go?

But then why not let the kid pick what he wants on the car? FWIW, I think the OEM seven-spoke wheels are much nicer than the XXR-531s.

Of course, lowering the car is going to make it look like CRAP no matter what else you do to it.

In summation....great plan, Dad!! Buy the kid a nice car for his birthday, and totally eff it up before you give it to him.

I would NEVER buy my son a 350z for his 18th birthday...What was your son's first car? If it wasn't a rwd car then you have very poor judgement. Yeah your son will praise you for getting him a Z and your get the awesome dad of the year award, but is that worth the risk of his life?

Out of the wrecked 350z's how many of them are just fender benders and can be fixed, not many! Most of the time when you see a wrecked 350z that car is smashed to hell!

 

Guys thanks for your inputs and concern about my kids well-being. My son’s first car was a 1991 NSX which I gave to him when he turned 16. Now that my order kid is coming back home from college and need a car and will take the NSX. That’s why I decided to buy my second kid the 350Z.

 

If you go with a 22mm offset with those tire sizes, you won’t rub.

I agree with others here expressing concerns about providing an 18 year old male with a powerful rear wheel drive sports car. Even if he is very responsible (I’m sure he is), anyone can get into trouble quickly with this type car. Even if he tests it only once, that might be too often resulting in an awful price for a moment of fun.

...and we wonder why the world is full of self entitled little *****...My first car was a $400 1980 Mazda GLC 4spd manual. Your *** got wet sitting in the backseat and it smelled like mold. I wrecked it the 1st month I had it. If i had a RWD sportscar, I would probably have killed myself and a few friends in it. But guess what, you learn from your mistakes and you learn to appreciate something really nice once YOU WORK HARD TO DESERVE IT.
