Ok so i just recently replaced my front tires with 225/45/18's and my rears need to be replaced within the next few months but id like to go to a 265/40 in the rear and eventually go to a 245/40 in the front.

Now i know the outer diameter of the 225/45's is 25.9'' and the outer diameter of the 265/40's 26.3'' and the recommended stagger between front and rear is supposed to be between .5'' and 1'' and this combo would only be .4''

Im just wondering if this .1'' difference would be enough to trip my tcs while under normal driving conditions or if i could run with this set up until i upgrade to 245/40's in the front

Also the 265/40's are .4'' smaller than the 245/45's im currently running in the rear, wondering how much of an impact that would have on my speedometer.

The sizes you ask about won't cause any problems with TCS. Those sizes will work well.

Your speedometer will read about one mph less at 60 mph, and closer to the actual speed at lower speeds.

EDIT: Why not go 275/40-18" on the rear? That's a perfect diameter match for your fronts now (225/45-18") and the 245/40-18" you plan putting on the front in the future.

 

Will a 275 fit a stock 18'' rim? I haven't looked into it but I have seen people running the 265's in the rear.

 

You should go with at least a 9" wide wheel when mounting a 275 mm tire.

Is your goal mounting wider tires on stock wheels?

 

yea im going to keep the stock wheels, lower it and throw some spacers front and rear

Just mainly wondering about the tcs being tripped, im fine with the 265 in the rear

 

I'm running a 275/35 on the stock 8" rim. No point unless you have some serious hp mods(i have a single turbo)
