Ok so i have a chance to pic up some new forgestar f14s for quite cheap. 1.3k for the set to be exact. (Retail is 1.4k+)

Now being the responsible boy that i am, i naturally researched them first. Ive heard a few bad things about the wheels and the company themself.

Problem is, the reviews were in like 2010. Which, some companies do manage to turn themself around and start producing quality products.

My question is, does anyone have any UPDATES review about this company? The wheels i want are 18x9F+20 and 18x10R+22 i believe they weight 20lbs per wheels.

So any info/opinions? Is the company still crappy or have they improved? Im also interested in other company that offers gloss black wheels. Sadly major players such as volks only offer matte black 😢

 

every wheel out there will have issues if you run it over a pothole with a 25 or 30 series tire over it.
The only wheels people speak of not having such issues with are far far heavier.. w stainless steel lips on them.. as far as a monoblock aluminum wheel.. you live in AZ.. we dont get road quality like California..
Im on my second set of F14s here and they are absolutely 100% fine.

They are a fantastic wheel for the money and then some, aqnd now they finally have good offsets to boot.

The internet likes to grab onto horror stories and make them sound FAR more prevalent then reality is.

Buy them off Dimitri at Vivid.. hes a good buddy of mine ( BBS350z here) and he will get you a great deal.

I'm sure they are 100% new as well. Your car is hand pushed or piggy backed on a flatbed from one location to another for more mods. lol

 

had a wheel cracked on me on the way to work one night, i was running stretch tires 225/40/18 not sure if that had anything to do with it, but from the crack it seem to be more on the production and quality side. Heres a picture for reference love the wheels not sure if i love the quality.

 

I was planning on running 285/35 18 rear and 275/35 18 front. I agree rhat az roads are alot better than cali roads. But then agai. I wouldnt want 1 pot hole to put my in a ditch.

Does yours clear factory brembos? I would imagine so.

I was disappointed when i found out that these are truely forge but are casted form or something like that. Do you think these will be able to handle spirited acceleration?

And to the Audi guy.. yeah stretched tire leaves your wheels all sorts of exposed to danger. SUcks they cracked.. but i cant imagine they cracked "on thier own" tbh.

In short, the quality is no less than an oem cast wheel.
The reality ios that you will likely put a hell of a lot less rubber over it than an oem wheel though, so , as with any wheel and tire combo you choose... chose wisely.

As for brake clearance, my fitment is far from standard, so I cant be any help there, but i will say that the SDC ( at least mine in a 19x11 -6.25) seem to have a giant and deep back pad.. mine swallowed up 60mm lug nuts.

 

I noticed your tires are low profile. Whats the sidewall of that? It looks kike yours are holding up pretty well. Gives me a good peace of mind

 

not low profile so much.. they are r888 r dot tires tho.. 30 series. This is about as meaty fit as it gets.

and yes Sparco is right.. this set has just over 1000 miles on them if that..
it doesnt get "pushed to shops" lol.. it gets driven across the city from shop to shop.
but my point in saying that "i owned 2 sets of f14s" is that i dont buy crap.. and ive bought these twice now haha.

 

$100 off of a $1400 set of wheels is "quite cheap"?

 

the fact they are 1400 in the first place makes them quite cheap ... most likely wht he meant..

and this i do concur with.. they are a fantastic wheel with a moderately low price tag for sure.


In hindsight i wish i had gone all the way down to 18s.. 18x11 and 18x12 sdc to be specific. Dealing w big r888s and 19s is becomming a hassle.

 

Guess I'm just a cheapskate. I miss all the great forged lightweight wide wheels for the miata that can be had for $600 and under. Hell when I got my CCW's for my Datsun they were only $2k for the set, full custom 3 piece wheels.

 

18x11, thats WAYYYYY too extreme for me haha how do you like your tires? How do they hold up in wet conditions?

 

100 bucks off of brand new wheels is a damn good deal for me haha

Considering volks are like 3.5k for a set and only weights 2lbs less, id say for 1.4k these wheels are cheap

 

yea 100 off bucks is not much, when i bought mine bought them off a guy who literally had 1,000 miles on them brand new tires and rims he wanted 1,200 i offered 850 and he took it guess i got lucky.

 

Difference between new and use, i could easily wait for a set of volks te37 and save 1k+ on the price...
