Yes you can change tire height and yes then it will render your VDC completely useless and very annoying. Search for posts about the slip light coming on and you will read in great detail about people buying rims from uninformed retailers that sold them the wrong tire sizes.

I don't think it's a problem as long as front and rear are same diameter. People were having probs. when the front and rear tires were different diameters ex. 235/35/19 front and 275/30/19 rear. The middle # is the sidewall height. It has to be the same front and rear. The first # is the width. That can vary quite a bit on this car.

Depends on how much you change it. Actually... as long as your tires are within about 3% or 4% of the factory diameter, then you will not have any problems with the electronic gizmos.

The middle number tyler mentions is called the aspect ratio, it tells you that the sidewall of the tire is that percent of the width of the tire... so, a 275/30 will tell you the sidewall height is 30% of 275mm.

There's no hard-and-fast rule that says the aspect ratio front to rear has to match. I used to have 245/40-18 on the front and 255/45-18 on the rear. These sizes are within about 2% of the OEM tire diameter. I decided I didn't like how tall the rear tire looked, so when I wore them out I replaced them with a 255/40-18. The rear is now about 3.5% smaller than the OEM diameter, but it looks much better and is still close enough not to make things go wonky.

Hope that helps,

PeteH

yeah... should be ok, but is there a reason NOT to use 245/40-18 front? Just curious.

you need to keep the same percentage diameter difference between the front and the rear... or it will throw things off...
