Default Help Me: Nismo 18" vs TE37 (LE37) 19"

Hi all.
I need you guys help.
I'm havaing hard time which wheels i have to go with.
My local Nissan dealer is buying me 2 front tires but the manager said, if i want Nismo, he will give me 400 dollars credit on wheels instead of 2 new RE040s.
it means, i have a chance to get Nismo 18" at 1500+ s/h.

My favorite is LE37T in Gunmetal or TE37 in Gunmetal/Bronze. But I can't save any money.

My calculator said:
Nismo 18": 1900+4.5%(Tax)=1985.5- 400 (Discount)= 1585 +960 (Tires) = 2545
Total: 2545+Install

LE37T 19": 2450+1077(Tires) = 3527
Total: 3527+ Install.

Tempting.
I want to hear soe + or - things of wheels from you guys who have those wheels.
Help me out. Sharing your knowledge to teach me.
FYI: I'm NOT into drag racing.

i think the volk le-37 or the te-37's looks much better but if the issue is you cant save money then you should just stick with the nismo's... but dont get the nismo's if your really not satisfied and if your only getting it because of the money issue... if you can afford the rest of the nismo's i would suggest just keep saving for alittle longer and get the volks definately....

I have the 18" Nismos. I love 'em. It wasn't an issue of saving money, it was my choice. I have not regreted it. They look great, are very light, and handle wonderfully. BTW, I have Dunlop SP9000s on them. 245/40/18 front and 275/40/18 in back.

I am partial to the nismos

I got mine because I wanted wheels (Nismo or LE37) and was just waiting for the right deal. Well these fell into my lap barely used (500 mile) and I jumped on it. I was only interested in 18's, even in the LE's. If you like the way the nismos look in pictures, you will love them in person. They look way better. Polished lip is very hot and so is the face difference between the front and back. Offset is close to perfect. They give the car a whole new attitude.

Here are some visuals for you

VandyZ: your car looks beautiful.
I love seeing Nismo's rear wheels but sometime
it looks liek drag racing tire feeling. (yours looks very slick)
Its very hard to decide.

so...
Volk 19" is for Less (A bit less) performance/ More bling in Z way (Not in Cadillac way).
Nismo 18' is for More performance/ Less bling?

Ride comfort for Everday use + Performace for weekend race = Nismo 18"?

I'm in the same boat as you... From my research, you appear to have summed it up nicely. There's another thread on this forum discussing performance issues with 19" wheels. In this thread there is a link to a spreadsheet which attempts to calculate the inertia differences between two different wheel/tire packages. I had to make some guesstimates as to tire weight, both a 18" Nismo or a 19" TE37 wheel/tire package should have a performance benefit over the stock 18" wheels. That said, the 18" Nismo will have an even greater performance benefit (as far as weight) with straight line performance. From my understanding, the 19" packages should perform better in cornering due to their shorter, stiffer sidewall. If you're happy with the cornering performance of the OEM wheels, then the 18" Nismo's should be an ideal package for you. Either way, 18" or 19" lightweight wheels should offer improvements. It's simply a matter of choosing what's best for you.

So... who wants to suggest a wheel for me?

I have the Nismo's and love'm!

As for your comment regarding less sidewall and better cornering, I have read that if you go too thin, it may 'feel' like your cornering quiker, but what really happens is that you aren't compressing the side wall as much when cornering, therefore getting less tread on track, and less traction.

Of course, 'thin' is upto a point. Is 35 too thin? I don't know. But I believe that in this case the car was made for cornering, and that was the prime concern for Nissan/Nismo. So I believe that the OEM and Nismo recs for sidewall width is optimal for handling. They probably took weight, balance, suspension, and other factors into account when determing this.

Howver, Nismo has made 19's. I have no idea where this comes into play with what I mentioned above.

just an idea... but I dont think itd be too hard to find a member willing to pay 17-1800 for the nismo rims in brand new condition that you can get for 1600. atleast then your credit doesnt go to waste, even if you only get ~200$ on the deal, better than nothing.

lowrider,
thank you for your pm.
thats amazing price.
but as i posted, my dealer is giving me 400 dollars discount on nismo wheels instead of giving me 2 "useless" 225/45/18 RE040s.
So I will end up paying 1585 dollars for Nismo to my dealer.
I really like and still my favorite is LE37T Gunmetal 19x8.5, 19x9.5 (+.22) setup but it seems like I will end up buying Nismo since its 865 dollars cheaper than Volk. I think i will spend extra 865 dollars to buy Nismo exhaust later.

If you can hook me up for Nismo exhaust, it would be nice.

But I really really appreciate to you and sorry that I forgot to say thank you.
