Default Tire Fit Experience

Hi all,

A friend is going to buy Michelin 4S for his 2003 350z Track with factory suspension and factory 18" track wheels.. We are deciding on sizes. Mostly street driven with the occasional autocross.

He is not wanting to reduce the sidewall height from factory.

Looking at one of these options:

235/45/18 front
255/45/18 rear
or
245/45/18 front
255/45/18 rear

Does anyone have fit experience with a 245/45 front tire? Yes, most ppl run 245/40, but hes looking for a identical or taller sidewall.

Thanks

Not sure why maintaining equal or taller sidewall is of importance here.

Your friend would be best off considering the overall diameters being equal versus maintaining identical sidewalls because any trade off to gain width affects sidewalls AND diameters.

Want more rubber/track up front? Add the width, drop the sidewall aspect. Hence why people run 245/40 instead of 245/45. Increasing width without commensurate adjustment of aspect ratio leads to VDC faults, a feature of the Track model.

Note that I appended the original post above with tire diameters to help with visual conception of turning a Z into a 4x4.
