Wouldn't the rears be taller in the rear as long as it's a wider tire?
If the tire size was the same front/back, the car would be the same height considering they both had the same aspect ratio. My front stock wheels (225/50/17) had an overall height of 25.9in. The rears (235/50/17) were 26.3in. This was the factory stock setup, nothing changed...nothing added. When I went with the new set up, the fronts (275/30/20) now have a height of 26.5. Half an inch or 2.5% difference. Well within the reccomended 3%. The rears (285/30/20) now have a height of 26.7in. That's .4in or 1.8% difference, again well within the reccommended 3%.

On the flip side, if I ran the same size wheels(20in) with the 245/35-275/35, the fronts would go from a stock height of 25.9in to 26.8. That's a difference of 1.1in or 3.5% in the front and the rears would go from 26.3in to 27.6in. That's a difference of 1.3in or 5.1% .
I am with you on this. I agree with you but what do I know...I don't have a tire shop.

Assuming you went from 18in wheels to 19in wheels, your stock was 225/45/18 with a height/diameter of 26in. With the 19in wheels with the tire size 255/35, it's a perfect match. The rears 245/45/18 to 275/35/19 would also be a perfect match. But.... your set up would only be good for 19 wheels. If you throw 20's into the mix with these tire sizes (again, I assume you went to 19's). The front 225/45/18- 255/35/20 would be going from 26in. to 27in. or 4.1% difference. The rears 245/45/18-275/35/20 would be going from an overall height/diameter of 26.7in to 27.6in. That's a difference of .9in or 3.4% .

After reading all this (and others might think the same) a apect ratio of 30 is generally good for a larger wheels like 20's. A 35 series tire is good for 19's and so on so forth. However I guess there could be exceptions to the rule but if you went from a 225/45/18 to a 255/30/19, you'd be going from a diamter/height of 26in to 25in. WHOA! Now instead of your speedometer showing slower speeds, it would be showing faster speeds. But a 35 series tire would put it perfectly. A 20in wheel would move it to a 30 series tire at 255.

All in all, the best fit for a 20in wheel on my 225/50/17-235/50/17 would of been 255/30/20FR and 275/30/20RR. That setup would have only raised it aroud .1-.2in. However, I wanted fat tires and I wanted to ensure that the 20x9 and 20x10 were well protected from curbs. Whewwww. Sorry for such a long post.

Trust me, you'll be fine with the 275/30/20FR and 285/30/20RR. I don't own a tire shop either that's why I did all the research when I upgraded tires for my cars. It all depends on stock tire size and what works/looks best. For stock 18's, the perfect fit would have been the 255/30/20FR and 285/30/20RR. Same diameter as stock. But wider is always better and the wider tire will protect the wheel more without screwing things up. Just make sure that whoever you have mount them, they see that they're are two bolt patterns on the wheels and they mount them on the right one's. Keep us up to date.

What do you mean two bolt patterns?

5x114.3 and 5x112 bolt patterns are available on this wheel. I believe that there are others as well but the installer said those bolt patterns were very close and that it could be easy to install it on the wrong pattern. He installed it on the 5x112 to illustrate his point and then put it back onto the 5x114.3.

It worked and it looks great. I have the 275/30/20 in the front and the 285/30/20 in the rear. They are mounted on Axis Se7en Mods. No rubbing whatsoever and they look great! Thanks NOZ4U.

Now all you need to do is lower it. I think the best drop would be the Eibachs (1" drop) but the local shop didn't have them in stock so I went with the Teins (.6 &.7 drop). The other option was the tannabes but you would have definately been rubbing at that point. I might try the Eibachs just to see the "slammed" look.

I will wait and see how your Z looks dropped. I think it looks great the way it is. Did you spacer out your wheels at all? This is by far the coolest setup I have seen. Those are some massive tires on there. I can't seem to get pictures to post. Can you PM me and I will email you pics so you can post them.

With the 275/30/20FR and 285/30/20RR, it makes the car .6in taller. However by looking at the car from the outside, it looks lowered. I assume this is because the fender gaps are all but gone as they are when a car is traditionally lowered. I plan on having the Tein S-Techs put on this week which should lower the car back to stock height but appearance-wise, it's gonna look slammed. Trust me when I say, you got the right set up. I was actually surprised (being that the sidewall is so small) the ride comfort is much smoother with the wider tires in the front and back. I assume because it's such a larger contact path, it can absorb more vibrations.......who knows. The car feels as if it's planted firmly on the road.
WERE YOU WERE SATISFIED WITH WWW.WHEELSTUDIO.COM RECOMENDATION.OF 275/30R20 AND 285/30R20 SEEMS YOU HAVE THE BEST SET-UP ON THIS POST.

I'm very pleased with the set up.....Very. But there are some drawbacks. I went with the Bridgestone S03 tires, which are one of the best if not the best for performance, but they're the heaviest tires as well. This is sort of a trade off I guess. Toyo doesn't make a 285/30/20 which sucks because they are one of the lightest tires. I don't believe Nitto makes a 285/30/20 either but I not sure. So besides the weight issue (which can be compensated for) I love the set up. Below is a couple of pics with the wheel setup with Tein S-tech springs. This gave it a .7" drop in the front and a .6" in the back. Two days ago I took off the Teins and put on a set of Tanabes with a 1.2" drop all around. If you're looking at getting the same tire setup, you can see what they look like with both drops.

Wheel Widths:
FR-9
RR-10

Offset:
FR-37
RR-45
***The mounting point appears as if it's right in the center of the tire or slightly in front of it. If I had a smaller tire, the offset would have been more negative but now it appears as if it's about neutral.

Tire Size:
FR-275/30/20
RR-285/30/20

No camber kits.
