what is good treadwear?
What is a good treadwear rating for our cars. I have an Enthuiast model and do 90% highway driving. What type of miles can I expect to get out of a treadwear rating of 300?
Really depends on your driving style, suspension mods, tire pressure, etc.
I hsve personally found the treadwear indicators to be a total aste of time looking at, as I ahev had tires with low treadwear numbers (P Zero Asymetricos for example) give very good life (35k when I sold the last car that had them, my Subaru, still withl a good amount of tread left, despite a half dozen track days and everyday street driving)
I think the same thing of the overall "ratings" the companies like Tire Rack give out. Tires vary from car to car, and what works really well on one car can work absolutely horribly on another.
I think if you poll the people here on the boards, you'll find most using one of 3 major tires for any given size - out of those, see what they ahve to say about life, usage, overall traction, etc, and it shold be easy to narrow the search down.
If I had to guess, I would say most people are either using S03, T1S or SP9000.

the thing to keep in mind for tirewear ratings, is, there is no industry wide standard.
what one company says is a 280 may be the same as a 140 for anothe company. so you first need to pick a manufacturer you like and can afford. then find the tire with the highest rating you can afford. Or just a matter of trial and error. of course i havent had a set of tires more than 10 miles on my Z yet, so I'm a bad person to ask! hehehe
