Default Tire Decisions

I've been tracking the Z with the reo40's but I want something sticky. I want something that's better for the track and hot summer days. I don't want a rain tire . Any suggestions?

BFG KD's or for less money Kumho MX's. The other choice is to get a set of wheels and tires for track use.

WERD!

A lot of ppl will say that Kumhos suck. But use them before you pass judgement. Kumho makes excellent tires. With the BFG KDs you cant go wrong, probably the best dry tire I have ever experienced (Tested them on my buddy's Lotus Esprit V8 turbo, stuck like glue).

id go with BFG w/o a doubt...we put some hoosiers on a porsche yesterday at our shop 285/30/18 rear and 245/35/18 front. but they can ONLY be used on dry roads, any type of moisture and forget about even driving. these are DOT approved also.

Yeah, BFG and Kumo's are my two choices. I'm glad to see someone else has had to make this decision. I'm looking for "gumballs" and I've heard great things about both. I guess I'll just flip a coin. I really like that Kumo tread pattern though! Thanks guys

Let us know how you like them once you get a chance to test them out.

I feel the change coming about the end of May and I will let you know! One other factor is BFG'S are $48 a piece cheaper. Man I feel like I'm going insane.

If you can handle the lower useful life, check out the Toyo RA-1's, a DOT street legal track tire. Gummy bears. I am running 245/40/18F and 275/35/18R, and they are terrific on the track. On the street they are insanely grippy, but I don't use them much, prefering to save them and run a street set of PP S0-3's on 19s.

I was talking to one of the instructors at the track yesterday and he said the same thing about the Toyo's. Toyo it is! I can't wait to get them and I better before I change my mind again. Thanks for the input.
