I worked out a deal to buy a pair of brand new Michelin pilot sports cheap. They are 265/35/18 will they fit on the stock 18x8 rims?

IMO, I think it could be too wide for 8" rims. But if they hold or not, no clue, sorry

btw, do you have VDC?

If they fit I was thinking of 265/35/18 rears and 245/40/18 fronts. I do have VDC but I don't think there will be an issue. My winter tires are 245/50/17 all the way around. The VDC light didn't go on once!! Anyone else wanna lend me a hand?

What you need are 245/40/18's on the front and 275/40/18's on the rear. I just got mine(Nitto 555 Extremes) yesterday, and they fit like a glove. No faults other than the speedo being off by a minimal 0.6 mph. They look sweet. Paid $798 incl installation. This staggered sizing is the best match above stock size tires for the 350Z Touring 6MT. Absolutely perfect!

btw, 265/35/18's in the rear would be a poor choice. In addition to your speedo being off by a whopping 3.1 mph! You want the same profile(40's) tires all the way around.

shift is right, if you had 8.5" wide wheels in front and 9.5" wheels in back. With the stock 18s run 245/40/18s in front and 255/45/18s in back. These are the largest sizes that will fit properly (no tire bulge) on the stock 8" wide wheel.

Why is tire sizing so difficult. I called 2 local places today! They both said 245 is the max they would install.

With the 275/40/18's on the rear, the tire bulge is minimal. If you want wide tires in the rear while still running your stock 18's, 255/40/18's won't cut it. Trust me, i have the 275's. The best lo-pro oversized tires for these stock wheels are the Nitto 555's. I've seen other brands with 275/40/18's on the rear, and yes, there is some significant bulge. Not with these Nittos.

But yes, this exact staggered tire setup is made for 8.5" wheels on the front and 9.5" wheels on the rear.

Btw, i did purchase this fine set of rubber from a major tire outlet who also installed them. (hint: they have a website).
