Default $5000 burning a hole in my pocket, need a little advise.

I have $5000 cash to spend on my new '04 Z, and I'm gonna dump it all on wheels and suspension.

Here's the catch, I'm fairly new to the Nissan Scene and I'm trying to install the lightest possible components available.

Off the top of your heads, can anyone suggest the lightest 17"- 18" wheel/tire combo you know of (price is no issue) and lightest fully adjustable coilovers available.

I'm leaning towards an advan/toyo or rays/toyo combo for the wheels and jic or zeal for the coils. I'm familiar with the T1-S, and aside from a small dry rot issue here in the heat I think they're the lightest tires I've come across.

I'll also be needing a brake upgrade in the near future also, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Fikse makes some really light, forged wheels

Kinesis makes light (but maybe not as light as Fikse) forged wheels

CCW makes custom racing wheels... some of the Speed World Challenge cars use them, forged and light

Kaizer Wheels makes light forged racing wheels

BBS Racing makes forged magnesium racing wheels that are very light weight

all are about $1k per wheel (except the BBS, which are closer to $2000)... by the time you buy a set of any of these, you won't have any money left for adjustable coilovers...

A lot less $$$ and still light wheels are the cast OZ Superleggera or any of the BBS wheels... probably just as light as the high-dollar forged wheels. All are available at Tirerack.

Can't help with tires or suspension... I've never been too worried about how much they weigh.

Brakes... go with Stoptech. If you want track performance all you need is the 332x32 front kit. If you are a poser and want bling-bling, get the 355x32 front and rear kit... no performance gains over the 332x32 front kit, but you will get a lot of looks.

Willwood makes lightweight calipers... maybe a little less than the Stoptech ST40 caliper... so you might do a comparison there with weights. Other to compare include Brembo GT, Rotora or AP Racing. For my money... I'd forget all the rest and get Stoptech.

Hope that helps.

Personally I say go with Volk's, maybe the SF Challange, those with tires in 18 should run you about 3k, depending on dealer and tire. Pretty light and amazing.

Then I'd go with the Tein Flex EDFC system which is about $2,000. If you wanted to save some there, you could go with HKS Hipers which are about $1350. This would leave you some money for installs if you are getting professionally done, or if you want even more suspension, sway bars for $350 more. Then you'd even have $300 left.

Lightest wheels: Buddy Club P1QF.

Too many people are running around on Volks, if you ask me.

ADVAN TCII / ADVAN Neovas AD07 = Hollow cored rim + Stickiest street wheel to date

btw: thx for the comment ninja, my gold shoes complement the PPW perfectly IMO, and the grip is insane. I am also gearing toward the lightest tire/wheel and suspension route. good luck, and i'll send you a few more pics. Peace

neovas are not street legal tires in the US. but yes, they grip like mad.

i wouldnt be worried about buying the absolute lightest **** around unless you will be competively racing your car.

Yeah exactly as Moroccan Mole said.. there is no point for the LIGHTEST rims around unles you really plan to do a lot weight cutting and driving your car around.

Lot of people with Volks around, thats true, but their the best for the price vs. quality IMO.

F the lightweight, go throw some Bling bling 20"s on there

Kidding. I think pretty much any 17" forged wheel you buy is going to be lightweight. They are all going to be so close in weight. Look for some carbon rotors, now those will shave some weight....

Thanks for the replys guys. I saw a couple of wheel Manufacturers that I hadn't thought of, so thanks for that. I'll be making some calls here shortly.

And no bling bling brake kits here, I'm just trying to leave some budget for the best set for an aggressive daily driver. I'm really only in it for the weight, a set of Project Mu pads would probably suffice for my daily drives.

Anyways, I've done a few comparisons on the T1S' and it seems that by using 18's over 17's I'll actually shave a pound or two off the weight of the tires, even though I'll be gaining a net 1-2 pounds per wheel overall.

I'm not sure who to talk about for the advans, I would really like to do a weight comparison. jerrera, did you by any chance weigh your TCII's w/ the neovas? Let me know who you bought them from and how long it took you to get em, I'd really appreciate it.

Yes I totally agree with the Advan TCII's ....very light!! The Neova's are just sexy..and awesome traction.

also the Volk CE28N and SE37K are ligher than the TE37's
CE28N<SE37K<TE37

as a reference SE37K 18X9.5 = 16.8lb....TE37 18X7.5=17.0lb

And the lightest of all the TE37MAG 18X8=12.7lb....wow!
and yes the buddy club is very light!!

good luck!

Ther are loads of lightweight, rare wheels out there - depends what your tastes go to.

As for lightest suspension, that's a no brainer - Cusco Zero2 Titaniums

The Volk TE mag's are sweet, ultra rare as well, but do cost a boat load. If you like the looks (wheels are such a subjective, individual thing) the CE is an awesome choice.

Well, I love all the rays wheels and about everything except the mag is in my price range. I am awaiting word on some special order 18" Enkei RPF1 to make my final decision.

As far as the suspension goes... Adam, awesome idea... can you quote me a smokin deal on the titaniums and fill me in with some specs (weight, optional spring rates, adjustability and of course availability.)

I'll be taking pics and posting total weight savings when I'm finished...

Default PPW w/ Advan TC2's wrapped in Advan Neovas

Ninja, I never got to weigh them individually, but they were way lighter than my stock Ray's (Track) I got them locally here in the Bay area, they were shipped from Japan about 6 months ago, and I fortunate enough to have the $$$ for it at the time. ive had them on since Nov. People either adore them or hate them, it is all personal taste. what sucks is that if i damage a tire I cant go to any tire shop and order me a spare...I gotta be careful. I myself love the color of the wheel, i dont think anyone else in this forum is sporting TC2's...anyone? Yes, these tires are not DOT approved, but i'm sure Yokohama will bring this dope *** tire to the States.. Once again thanks for the comments all..!!! I got love for VOlk's...but... Go ADVAN baby...!!!
