I love the Track Rims on my Z but it would be nice to have a larger rear set of tires. I'm sure this has been asked before but how wide a tire will fit on the 8.5 in. track rim safely?

I've heard guys going as high as a 275 series tire, which seems a little extreme. The Tirerack doens't recommend going higher than a 265 series tire.

 

Well, you 'can' go to a 295 or even a 305, but that would be way too much. The effective contact patch would be more of a 265-275 series tire. I know that a member with a G put 275's on a 8" tire and didn't notice mutch bulge. I would think you would be ok with a 275, but I wouldn't go any higher than that.
