Anyway, is this correct for 20x8.5 and 20x10 (TSW Thruxton)?:

285/30/20

Will this upset the speedo, VDC, ABS, etc???

Just go to discount tires website and use the calculator. It's easy. Just subtract overall front diameter from rear. You want that number to be as close to stock as posible. On a Touring that number is .28. You can find out yours just by punching in the stock sizes.

For my 350Z , european setup , the stock tires are 225/45 R18 front and 245/45 R18 rear , with stock wheels 8 x 18 , + 30 mm offset.
I'd like to change wheels to leave stock tires (in italy we have homologation problems)
I found two solutions that like me ; both solutions are 8,5 x 18 ,
for front and rear , first with 25 mm offset , second with 30 mm offset : my question...
Doe's front wheels 8,5 x 18 fit right with stock tires 225/45 ?
Any controindication or suggestion ??

I really wouldn't put 225's on a 18x8.5 wheel.

The stock 18x8 with it's 225 on my Touring is already pulling the rubber out and my rim sticks out further than the tire.

You put the same 225 on an even wider wheel...could be nasty. But I am no expert.

I have had my car since January 9th 2003. Which means that I bought my car 7 months earlier from the preorder before the z hit the streets. So I was one of the first ones in my town to get my ride. I looked everyday for the perfect rims and tires for 7 months. This is what I ended up with and it was the perfect match. I have had sooooooooo many compliments on my tires and rims. I had them custom maded from IForged and was fortunate enough to get in on a group buy. I had my car only 2months before my tires and rims arrived. I have had zero problems, no rubbing, no fender rolling, no suspension mods, no spacers, no special wheel nuts. So what do I have.
Front: 19x9 - Yokahamo - 245X35x19
Rear: 19x10.5 - Yokohamo - 295x35x19

Thats right 295 on the rear. They look AWESOME from behind.

Oh, i forgot to mention that with IForged I was able to pick my inset, my lip.

Front - 2" lip
Rear 3" lip

Here is another pick from the side.

I chose this inset because I have the Touring Model and did not want my stock brakes to show because they would look really small.

I also wanted the Inset to match the same coloring as the door handles.

My biggest concern was that I did not want the wheels to stick outside the wheel well.

I'd like to get a 295 eventually, but i'm lowered a little so i dont think a 295/35 will fit. I will have to see how they fit with the 275/35 though.

I know 19 is in inches. What about the other two numbers?

I'm running 245/45ZR17's up front and 275/40ZR18's in the back and I haven't had any problems.

That tire size would probably fit, but it would certainly affect the handling of the car. By going wider in the rear but not going equally wider in the front, you'll be increasing the understeer of the car. If you want to increase the rear by 10mm, you might want to increase the front by 10mm also just so things stay relatively the same handling-wise.

Also, just keep in mind that a 285/40 is slightly taller than a 275/40, so you might feel a small loss in acceleration. This is true anytime you increase the diameter of a tire on a car, since a taller tire has the same effect as a taller gear ratio.

Hey guys, new to the forum with a yellow 05 Z. I just bought 19x10 rear and 19x8 front rims for my car. They are custom made so they wont be ready for another month. I need to buy tires and I dont want to get the wrong ones. I dont know anything about this subject. Can anyone help me by recommending what tires to get and the sizes, etc. THanks

The most common rim sizing is 8.5" wide with 245mm tires in the front and 9.5" wide with 275mm tires in the rear. (That's what the Nismo rims are, for example.) On 19" rims like your's, the ideal tire sizes would be 245/35/19 front and 275/35/19 rear. I believe those sizes will fit on your rims. If possible, you might want to kick the front rims up to 8.5" wide instead, as that will more readily accept a 245mm tire. I'd personally also kick the rear down to 9.5", since that will weigh less than a 10".

On that note, if you're interested in getting rid of the understeer the Z has, you might want to consider making the front and rear tires as equally wide as possible. I'll be getting 255's on the front next time to make them a bit closer to the 275's on the rear. I don't know if a 255 would fit on your 8" rim, though.

I just bought some rims from Iforged. 19x8's for the front and 19x10's in the back. I got them custom done with a 4"lip in the back and a 2 1/2" lip in the front. Did you pick your tires or did they recommend them to you? I have absolutely no clue when it comes to tires and I have a couple more weeks till I get the rims. If anyone knows somewhere I can go where they can help me out or let me know what the best tires or gonna be, I would really appreciate it. I have an 05 Base Z.

Guys, you can go wider in the front than 8". If it's not too late, I'd recommend an 8.5" or 9" in the front. Heck, even 9.5" if you don't mind it sticking out a little. SCC magazine showed that a 9" rim, 30mm offset, and 275mm tire fit in the front wheel well. With that much serious space available, why go with such a narrow setup in the front? You could probably go with a 9.5" and 25-28mm offset in the front if you don't plan to lower the car much. I'm considering putting a set of the Nismo rear rims on the front also so I can have 275 all the way around. Might try it out one of these days just to see how it fits.

I only say this because the Z understeers so much from the factory. If you go with an even narrower front tire along with a huge, fat rear tire it's just going to understeer worse. This is okay if you just want a straight line car, but not so good if you want balanced handling.

I have no choice with regards to the front tire. The 2pc. version of the rim I bought only comes 8" for the front. I would have like to go wider but I can't. Now im trying to figure out the right tire setup. Everyone says something different and I don't want to end up listening to some guy who is trying to sell me whatever tire he has in stock. I would like to go in there with some understanding. Which is why I come to u fellow Z owners for help

My personal recommendation (and what all the serious track guys tend to recommend) is making the front and rear as close as possible in width. On an 8" wide rim, you might be able to fit a 245 tire. To be sure, just pick out whatever model of tire you want, then look at the manufacturer's website to see the specs for the different tire sizes. They will show you what the min and max rim widths are. Just get the widest you can safely fit on an 8" rim. Here is Toyo's specs on all their T1-S tires:

Great tire, and not as expensive as some of the other options. Toyo says their 245/35/19 tire will fit from 8" to 9.5" rims, so that should do the trick. I'd personally prefer the 255/35/19, but they say it needs a minimum 8.5" rim. You could probably fit it on your 8", but you'd be out of spec. Many people will tell you that's okay. I personally tend to be conservative and do what the manufacturer recommends.

On the rear, the 275/35/19 will fit 9" - 11" rims, so you're good to go on that one, also. That's a very common size that most people use on the 350Z.

If there are other tire brands and models you're interested in, just visit that manufacturer's website and look up those similar sizes and see what rims they'll fit on. You should be perfectly fine with a 275/35/19 on the rear with any brand of tire, so shoot for a 245/35/19 or 255/35/19 on the front if they'll fit your 8" rim.
