Yeah, that's my take on it. That's why I'm going to a 255/275 combo on my next set of tires.

i was thinking the same thing; has anyone else run this setup with success? didn't scc run less of a stagger in their "balance" installment of project 350z? i know for sure they ran 255/35/18s in front, but not sure about the back... think it was 265.
Correction: it was freakin 275/40/18 all around!

What do you guys think of this size wheels running 255/40/18 in front and 275/40/18 in back?
Could someone please respond to the above questions re: offsets and lip width?

What ever works. there is a site that calculate the tire size at first page of this tread. it is in www.tires.com that you will find it. I am running on 2454018 & 2754018. They are awesome. I might get 2554018 2854018 next time just to raise the height a bit, I lowered the car 1", it might be a little too much. a taller tire size would bring it taller a little bit.

I just bent a stock wheel, 18". Any sugestions on avoiding the dealers option of their chrome wheels, $1100 w/ exchange? I'm looking at the tire /wheel pkgs. from discount direct.

I would buy a new set, or just fix your wheels. Nismo wheels are very nice

You can still use the tires it comes with until it is worn out. although you will be pulling these 245 pretty hard on 9.5 inche rims

I'm thinking about doing a chrome set and I see a lot of people with volk wheels. But I'm looking for advice on 18'' versus 19''. And tire size choices?

Use Nismo, 19" are out. Of course you can use 18" too. 19" are too pricy. They really look right

"Whatever works"? Well, I don't know what works, which is why i'm asking the question.
In my communications with Bryan from 350zonline and Tony from performance nissan, they BOTH recommend not running the same size wheel on front and back, saying it would look "funny".
When i asked Bryan what the offset would be for 18x9 volk gtn wheels all around, he said 22 front, 17 rear.
I thought i had found the perfect stagger with these wheels and 2554018 front with 2754018 rear, but now i'm just as confused as before.
PLEASE HELP!

I am looking at the Enkei PK6. Can I put 18x9.5 all around? There seems to be a disagreement between Tire Shops I've talked to as to whether 9.5's will fit the front without rubbing. My Z is not lowered, nor will it ever be. What is the recommended rubber combo for this set up? Thanks for any help.

Someone please explain this to me! Why does it look funny, when the stock wheels are the same size back and front to begin with? Stock doesn't look funny. Am I missing something here?

i decided to go with the wider rears as recommended by the wheel vendors...problem solved.
apr01: seems like the width of your fronts MAY cause rubbing; maybe some installers have had problems with that width but others haven't...do you want to take the risk?
If you want rims with different offsets from stock, they may look "funny". I think this is a situation in which we know-nothings must follow with blind faith the advice of those with more experience. I slept lots better last nite after coming to that conclusion.

Even though the stock rims are the same width, the tires aren't. Stock tires are 225 front with either a 235 or 245 rear (depending on which model car you get). I personally don't think the SCC car looks funny with its 275 tires all the way around. It looks mean. I want to see someone put the rear Nismo rims on all 4 corners. I think that'd look seriously mean. I keep meaning to try mine to see if they'll fit on the front, but I keep not getting around to it.

I believe they had to modify the mounting surface to get the 275s to fit in front of the scc project z car.

Do you guys think I could fit a 255/35/19 on a 9.5 SF Challenge wheel in front without rubbing when steering?

Offset is about +23. Lowering with Tein S-tech.

There is a way to calculate the tire size. I do believe 255/35/19 and 285/35/19 is better deal! Better in terms of matching the original height

I've been wondering the same thing - why not use the 255's up front instead of the 245's. I think I may have found the answer - if you search by size on TireRack or DiscountTireDirect the number of tires available in 255/40/18 is pretty slim compared to the 245/40/18.

Since the 245/40/18 is outside the stagger range of 0.5 to 0.75 you would think that a lot of people would have VDC problems but I don't see that reported here. I'm so confused!!!!!
