As promised, more pics ... just installed s-tech springs. Didn't notice much of a difference yet, but it's only been 2 days. Might need more time to settle?

looks good. the only thing i would do, is get rid of the doorguard crome stuff you used on the grill.

 

Can you take a measurement of how much ground clearance there is from the side skirts to the ground? I'm curious what real world drop those S Tech has.

very nice. I agree, get rid of the chrome grill. I had it on mine as well, but thought that it makes the car look more american and less JDM, etc......I think it looks better off the car with the theme you are going with.

What size and offset are your wheels? Are you anywhere near SF area? Wish there were some Z's in SF area so that I can see some aftermarket wheels on these cars in person.

 

Really considering your suggestions for removing the chrome lines. Although I've always thought it blends in with the polished lip and the front chrome emblem. I'll definitely give it a shot soon.

RodH > Supposed to be a 0.6/0.7 drop, but didn't get any baseline measurements to compare to (doh!). It looks like half that amt of drop right now. Seen a few people post reviews stating it takes a few days for these to fully settle. Hope thats true since i'd like it to go a bit lower. The first pic in the series @ the photo link is a before pic at the hooters meet.

Oh, and wheels are 9.5F/10.5R +22

 

It feels too plain like this. The grill seemed to give it a touch of bling. Might keep it until I get a small intercooler to fill the spot

so you must have the S-techs or the Hotchkis springs, that explains why the lowering looks so similar to mine.

 

personally I like it better, looks more badass and less bling, but that is my opinion. Either way your car looks sick

 

Yeah I like it better without the grill. Keep the clear sidemarkers though. I have the same size wheels but in the TE's, and I have the Tein S-techs. It looks great but don't expect too much more of a drop visually. It does look different and much better than stock but it's subtle. Upside is you'll still be able to get to factory alignment specs unlike some springs or coilovers. Lastly I just took my setup to the track this past weekend and the S-techs performed great. Stiffer than stock but still civil enough for the street.

 

Yeah S-Techs. After having them on a few days now, they've settled a bit more, but I'm not sure i'm completely happy with them. They *look* great, dropped the perfect amt for me (very very subtle), but their affect on performance isn't what I was hoping for.

It's a lot rougher now, I feel every bump along the way. The "bounce" is probably worse than it was before on certain roads. While stiffer is better on turns, I feel like little imperfections on the road during turns can randomly affect my steering quite a bit. (alpha, has this happened to you?)

Turn-in's seemed smoother before, while this is tighter and harsh. Don't know exactly what I was looking to expect. Maybe just less bodyroll without all the vibration.

My alignment seems off (steering is slightly crooked) so that might be causing the trouble. I'll get alignment done soon and see if it corrects it. If not, I'm just going to live with it for now and eventually might go with a coilover setup like the basics.

 

why didn't you get an alignment after your spring installation....looks great btw

 

Thanks. Haven't had a chance yet. Did the spring install on sat. Should get the alignment done this sat if I find a decent place to do it. How do the alignment shops get info on the proper specs for the car?

Ugh, not a good response, 4 weeks after a spring install is the norm before alighnment.
