Default spacers_no spacers_or just go VOLKS?

OK, I am considering HP Design rims with +35 offset all around. I don't want my wheels to be tucked!!! PLEASE CORRECT ME IF I'M WRONG...seriously...I keep hearing my wheels will be tucked to much into the wells.

My rims would be 19's, 8.5f and 9.5r. According to this rim calculator ( http://www.mindspring.com/~toy4two/offset.html )
the new rims should stick out (8mil front and 17mil rear) beyond the stock 17's which have a 30f and 33r offset. The rest of the new rim will be in the well.

I don't want to buy spacers... 8mil and 17mil beyond stock is actually quite a bit if you think about it, right?

Zquicksilver

ps i attached a picture that is scaring me...makes me want to go with the volks @ +25f and +29r. even though it's a small difference.

help please...

i guess the point of this thread is...8.5 and 9.5 inch rims at +35 offsets should stick out beyond stock? becuase the stock 17's are 7.5 and 8 at +30 and +33. Offsets aren't much different and the rims are 1 and 1.5 inches larger?

correct me if i'm wrong...

I believe the white Z is running 10.5in rears and a 29offset.

speedform is right about the white z... a 9.5r would not stick out that much with a +29 offset

it sounds like offsets are important to you, and i've seen +35 9.5s in person, and it just looks way too tucked in... i'm running 9.5s +20 in the back and feel like it could still stick out another 5-10 mm (like the folks running +10 to +15 on their 9.5s) without starting to look strange... this is all personal preference of course

as for running spacers, you could definitely do that, but IMO, they're a hassle and even the hub/wheel centric ones from H&R can potentially damage your bearings... so if you've got the money, just go for volks

my 1.4 cents (2 CDN cents at the current exchange rate)

Strife350z and others,

thank you guys so much. i am ordering one of the two in the next few hours and i was and still am very concerned with bearing wear and correct offsets. yes, i'm a picky a s. the HP's are actually +38 offsets and the guys told me they would throw in 5mm spacers for free. i'm a little concerned now to say the least. i didn't want to go the route of spacers

i might just have to dissapoint the HP guy and tell him i'm going with the VOLKS even though they're a grand more...

Get the volks... much better quality, lighter, stronger, just on a higher level than HP.

I would go for the Volks. I think you'll be pleased with them.

Just got rid of my spacers. 35 offset will looked tucked on a 8.5/9.5". BTW, look up the "unofficial offset/rim" thread. It has links to pictures of all the different offsets. Here's a 10.5 @ 30mm. Your's will be 11/16" of an inch in from here.

zillinois,

thanks for the link to the thread...i checked it out and it seems accurate.

I need to make a correction to this thread. The rims you see representing the HP's on the convertible are actuall Zenetti wheels. The HP's might not be so tucked.

i need your opinion on this as well as everyone else's, if you will...

The HP's are +38 all around and not +35... so according to the rim/offset calculator if it is correct, the HP's should stick out beyond stock at (5mil front and 14mil rear), stock is 7.5f and 8r with +30f and +33r offsets. I don't think that's too bad... that's just my opinion.

What do you guys think? I know it's a personal preference.

i think it will look tucked... the zenetti wheels on the roadster, even if they are not +38 like the hp racings, are at most, +40... which means your wheels will only stick out 2mm more

so unless you like that tucked look, i don't think you'll be happy

ok, i thought things over this past weekend and i still don't know which rims to go with... the VOLKS are over 3g's with tires and the HP's over 2g's with tires, this is a lot of money to me and i don't want stupid looking rims because i didn't get the correct info up front.

i created a little graph based on the mindspring web page info, which our "tiresdirectguy" said was 100% accurate and this is what i came up with...

so the question to you guys, do you think the stock 17's are too tucked? if so, would having the HP rims out beyond those by (5milF and 14milR) still be too tucked?

thanks for your opinions

The stock 17" are definitely too tucked, as are the 18". Nissan engineers really dropped the ball on this one. While the Hp's are a definite improvement over stock (what isn't) it's just enough of an improvement. If money's the big concern, I think we all feel your pain but I would consider looking for another wheel.
