Default Feathering affecting aftermarket wheels and tires?

Ive recently put on 19in Volks with nittos. I was wondering if anyone that has had their rims on for a while, if it was experiencing the problem that is persistent with the stock wheels. Any help with this would releive the ouch of having to pay for aftermarket tires every 6k like some of the guys with the stock wheels are having. Also if this thread has been done before please direct me in the right way.

This is the most recent/active thread I've seen, but I asked the same question. I haven't read anyone with aftermarket wheels that have confirmed feathering. I'm in the market but I'm weary about having to replace tires with my own money.

Anyone with feedback?

I've seen people asking the same question in other threads. I was just wondering what kind of doom is destined for the tires.

I got a letter from Nissan saying that they will fix this problem at no cost. I think it said that they will replace the damaged tire too. I didn't experience the problem so I didn't read that carefully. Anyone else get a similar letter?

From what I read once you go to aftermarket your screwed and it doesnt fix the problem just prolongs for some. I just put some adr 19"s and they seem to be wearing on the inside and I just had my alignment done.

Put your stock wheels back on and take it to dealer for alignment. Your 19's will feather just like the stock ones do.

I believe that if you put aftermarket rims 19's or 20's it will void the warranty. They have not fixed the problem! So if you do have aftermarket rims you will get the same effect as stock. Don't sell your old rims, this is just to swap in case they need to do realignments and new tires! If you have NISMO rims that is included in the warranty. Just a heads up!

good advice

btw, doing an alignment with stock 18s does nothing for your 19s when you swap them back on... each time you change the tire width/perch of your car, you must (theoretically) do another alignment

An alignment with the stock wheels should stop the bad scrubbing and prolong your aftermarket wheels at the very least.

I'm running 19x8.5 front and 19x10.5 rears. I have 15k on this set up no feathering on them. Just a little wear on the inside from the camber set up in the rear. I think it's -1.8. The fronts are fine.

i got the letter from nissan stating they would replace tires if feathering occurs. The letter does specify that your wheels must be the stock ones and no suspension modifications must have been done on the car. If any mods were done on the suspension the warranty is void.

it will, but not much... i did an alignment with my stock wheels 2 weeks before i installed my 19s

i did another alignment 2 days (as a precaution) after installing the 19s, and the specs were WAY off (if i can get some web space i'll scan the before and after reports)

the wider tires (245 in the front) threw it off
