Volk rim opinions needed...
Ok, my buddy just graduated college so I'd like to do something for him. He recently purchased an '04 silver Track Edition Z. He hasnt really done any mods to it yet, but would love to purchase some rims. Thing is, his bank account is drained for the time being (trying to pay off school and the car). So, I'd like to buy him some rims and a lowering kit for his Z. His favorite rims are the Volk GT-7 and GT-C. What rim would you suggest and should I get the centers a different color? I know he will be happy with whatever I choose, but I cant seem to make my mind up. One last question, what lowering kit should I go with? I will be getting the rims in 19's (widest width I can get in the front and rear(?)) and the lowest profile tires that I can find. Sorry for so many questions, I dont own a Z so I need to make sure I order the right stuff. All help is greatly appreciated.
can't help you with which rim but as far as size goes, i would say 19*9.5 front and 19*10.5 rear. 245/35/19 front tire 285/35/19 rear, you might need to roll the fender depending on the offset. Probably like a +22 or +19. Are you doing springs or coilovers?

Im not sure as to what setup would be best on his Z. What are most of the Z owners who lower thier cars going with, springs or coilovers?
coilovers are preferable, but they're also much more expensive ... it really depends on what you're looking to spend.
if you do springs only, i would go with rsr ti or tanabe gf210 springs. these will run you about $200-$220.
if you're going to buy coilovers, look to spend about $1.5k. im assuming this is your friend's daily driver, so i would recommend something like cusco zero-1, hks hypermax ls+, tein flex or cs (i personally don't like tein suspension, but they seem to be a favorite on the board).
for the wheels, i like the gt-c over the gt-7 ... i don't like the gt-7 at all. either silver or gunmetal would look nice on a silver car, i'd probably go with silver. tires 245/35/19 F and either 275/35/19 or 285/35/19 R

Thanks Moroccan! Seeing as he drives this daily, I will probably spend the extra money and get the coilovers. Im leaning more towards the GT-C's now, they seem to look more aggressive.

Thats no joke!
BTW, your Z is niiiiiiiiiiiiice!!
with cars like these '05 SL55 AMG , '02 GTS '01 Diablo 6.0, '03 Murcielago I'm sure any z crowd would love to have you around.
I really like the GT-7 (look for pics of TXStyle's Z) But i have to agree with the others, I like the GT-C Better. Where do you plan on getting them From? Oh, and make sure you put Toyos T1S on them.
The most important thing to remember when buying rims for the Z is the staggered setup has to be right and the offsets have to be right too. If there off it can mess up the VDC/TDC and the handling.
For 80% of Z drivers Just adding springs (like Eibach) to lower the car is fine. Most people get Coilovers for the adjustably of them. coilovers are better suited for a track or autox set up car, but there are several coilovers sets that are very street able.
Let me know if you have anymore questions

Wow, what do you do for a living you seem very successful with the lineup of vehicles you have. Also, for the best pricing on Volk talk to the people here www.rpmrevolution.com they dont have the wheels listed for some reason in the wheel section...but if you talk to them, it should help you out.

Lets just say that I've invested my money well in the stock market.
i think there's a lot of regional Z groups that hang out - last time i saw something mentioned in houston was a few months ago (didn't go)
but i'm "nice car agnostic" so i don't mind hanging around w/nice cars - most of my friends have european cars (and i had my M3) like M3, MB E55, 99s turbo, cayenne etc. but we all appreciate nice cars of any breed (your lineup definitely qualifies)
thanks for the compliment! where does an owner of exotics like yourself hang out?

Hey, Hien, do any of you (board members) ever meet up for "outings"? If so, do you let just any car tag along or do you have to be a Z owner?
