17" FS: 2003 OEM Chrome Wheels
I just sold my 350Z that I bought new in 2003. While I owned the car I replaced the chromed OEM wheels with a new set due to issues with chrome flaking on the factory wheels. I still have the wheels I took off the car, so I would like to sell them. Two of the wheels have curb scratches on them, and as I said the chrome job is not great on any of them. However, I am told that people that drift their Z's may want these wheels. I will split shipping costs with a buyer. It says I have to post a price or my thread will be deleted, so I am asking $200 for the wheels with splitting shipping costs or $100 for the wheels picked up in or near Pensacola, FL. I can be reached at (850) 255-7667 with questions or e-mail is mroberson4@***.net. Thank you for your interest.

I want to stress to people that these wheels are not being sold as some chrome wheels to dress your Z up- the wheels have poor chroming and two of them have curb scratches. I am looking to sell these wheels to someone that needs a set of OEM 17's off an '03 Touring that happen to come chromed from the dealership. People on this forum told me drifters would use this type of wheel. I don't want to rip anyone off, nor do I want to be ripped off. I just want to get rid of these wheels and I think they have value beyond me taking them to a junk yard or scrap metal dealer. Any and all input would be appreciated.
Sure would like to get these wheels out of the garage. If they do not have value in the market for drifters, what other ways are there to dispose of them? Scrap metal? I also thought of a salvage yard but figured they would offer me next to nothing for them. Any ideas anyone?
Price is way too high, in my opinion. Put them at $100 picked up or $200 shipped here and Craigslist, and you'll see people come running. To give you an idea, one can buy the non-chrome, OEM 18s with tires for $400. If you ship them, tape two boxes together, one on top of the other, so you end up sending TWO packages that are ~ 18x18x20 instead of four packages that are 18x18x10. Save yourself at least 25%.

I have been told that these wheels are chrome plated and that they may crack. I was told that by someone that has never seen them but had done some research on this forum. If that is the case they have little value. I would appreciate any ideas on how to get rid of them and collect any value they may have. These wheels came brand new on my 2003 350Z that was bought at Pat Peck Nissan in Mobile, Alabama. I do not see any way that any chrome wheel on the market would be anything other than chrome plated, and it is possible that if high temperatures would be involved in the plating process that might alter the temper of the aluminum alloy of the factory wheel, but I don't think Nissan delaers would be selling these wheels on new vehicles that have warranties if they were going to crack, however an individual sent me a picture of one that had cracked. Any tips on the most economical way to get these wheels out of my garage would be appreciated.
If I was local, I'd take them as spares and bring you beer. Since that's not an option, here are a few others:
1) Craigslist - maybe a 240SX drifter wannabe will buy them
2) Ebay - people will buy anything if they think it's a good deal (and $100 for four good wheels is a good deal)
3) Recycling or junk yard:

Thank you once again for the feedback Scott. I had an offer from a local buyer but am holding out for now. I would have ended up losing money on the deal by paying the gas and spending my time to meet the prospective buyer halfway. I am going to test the local market at parts houses and see what I can find. Thank you again for the assistance...Mike

Funny you mention that about gas. . . I found a relatively local deal for a set of wheels/tires for my truck, but they were 60 miles away. The guy had them on CL as well as Ebay. We agreed on a price and on meeting 1/2 way, then he said he lost access to a truck, so I'd have to drive the entire way to meet him (another 60 miles). I adjusted my price given the expense and added time, and he didn't like it, so I backed out of the deal. He emailed today and said he would honor my price adjustment. 60 (extra) miles at 13mpg is $20!
