Default European 350Z vs. US 350Z

I'm moving to Germany at the end of the year and am looking at purchasing a 350z over there. Needless to say, I'll still be looking at getting my performance upgrades here in the US, but I was wondering if anybody could tell me if there are any major differences between the two models....engine,tranny...stuff like that! Also any info on other things I should take into consideration when buying the car would be very helpful!!!

From what I have been told by my dealer (also in Europe) the suspension is a bit harsher on the US spec car, you get a bigger fuel tank in Europe +80 litres I think, and "interior trim quality has been improved" whatever that means.

I've got a list of differences someplace.

i think European models also get those little sensors in the bumper to let you know how far you back up...

That's a negative on the M3...a new M3 still costs about €50,000
So there are no differences in the engine???

Get it in the states!! The price for them here are way more expensive, not to mention the dollar to euro conversion rate absolutely sucks right now, today it .79.

Plus you wouldn't be able to bring a European Z back to the states unless you have it converted for about 1-2K, if you plan on keeping it that long.

Are you in the military? If so, you can get an M3 tax free, and waaaay cheaper than €50,000. Don't know the exact figure, but look up Pentagon Car Sales on the web, they can get a US spec M3 for you tax free.

Good thing about having a Z here is that there are so few of them, it's always a head turner wherver I go! BMWs and Mercedes are everywhere here.

Good luck

Tank should be the same. Suspension on the 04 US models should be the same as the Euro suspension. I´m not sure about the dash but i expect it to be the same (pads on the sides of the middle console). What i understand is that the differential has extra/bigger coolingribs an the radiator is supposed to be bigger, all this because of the higher speeds and narrower turns in Europe. Bumpers are bit different because of the washer for the xenon headlights and the larger licenseplates that we have... Another small difference is that we have a foglight in the rear lower taillight.

The specs of the Zeds in Europe is an combinations of the Track and Touring model... So the Specs of a European car are better then a US spec car.

Hope this helps,

Peter

According to the literature from my Nissan dealer the differences from the US car are;

1. Tuning of suspension and steering.
2. Improved aerodynamics (rear spoiler, front spoiler and under body airflow management as standard) for high speed stability.
3. Improved quality of interior materials.
4. Category one alarm as standard.
5. Fuel tank capacity increased to 80 liters for longer distance between fill-ups.

You would probably be better off buying in the US and shipping it over here, the exchange rates as they are at the moment make the
350Z GT around $50,000!

The cars come in two forms, standard 350Z and GT, GT has charcoal leather heated and operated seats, cruise control and BOSE 240W audio system.
24,000 and 26,500 respectively.

From what I've seen of peoples cars on here you also get a turn signal under the "Z" on the front wing (fender?) on the car.

Thanks a lot guys!!! All of this info has helped me out a lot...so as far as you all are concerned, I shouldn't have any troubles adding some engine upgrades?!? I'm not worried about the TüV since I've got some friends that can help me out there. I'm not military either, so getting an M3 tax free is out of the question for me!

I remember reading a few weeks ago about importers buying BMW's (I think) in the US and shipping them back to Europe because they were so much cheaper to buy in US even after being shipped over.

I think it costs circa $1000 to ship to Germany, you have of course to get it to the port. And back of course. May be Insurance complications, would cost more in UK for non UK spec, do not know about Germany.

UK and I think Euro prices are usually 'otr', on the road including delivery and tax.

I thought the suspension set up is now the same? And I thought there were 2 specs in most Euro countries.

The difference in Gas tank sizes is odd, I thought it might just be a rounding issue when converting from US Gallons to Litres, why make 2 sizes??

May also need to check depending how long you intend to have it, a temporary import is not likely to attract tax, usually max a year but yet agin you would need to check.

the larger gas tank makes sense with higher speeds...gas goes "bye bye" quicker...therefor a bigger tank!
I'm originally from Germany and I don't want a BMW, you see M3s like you see Mustang Cobras or Corvettes here in the US!!! I'll be moving to Germany as a permanent move! It costs about $3000-$4000 to ship a car, I had a 1969 Camaro shipped from the US to Germany about 6 years ago.

Well I got a quote for GBP700 about a year ago to go from UK to USA. For some reason I never did fathom it was cheaper to ship from Hamburgh, even though this was one stop more. The ships make around trip from Japan via West Coast, Galveston, East Coast, UK, Germany and Sweden.

I am sure a google search will find the info trhat you need.

The air inlet infront of the stock air box is much smaller then the US Spec...

Remove the useless aluminum casing... You'll be fine.

Useless unless you drive in highly "filthy" areas.

Just check it once in a while, u'll be fine.
