Default Gen1 HVAC in Gen2

Gen1 HVAC in Gen2-1.png

I've searched.

Will gen1 HVAC controls line up with gen2 console and will the harness match?

I hate the aluminum trim and I think it's chintzy.

Has anyone swatched 06+ HVACs into 03-05 or vice versa?

They only work with it's matching control unit, that being said,I don't know if the knows them selves will fit in the newer style console. You could swap the whole waterfall, that will work for sure.

You need to swap the whole center console & the unified meter ( white box connected to the HVAC )

Why not just remove the controls and paint the silver? I've seen plenty of people paint them red, blue, etc making them flat black would be just as easy.

Having swapped the updated waterfall and HVAC controls from an '06 to my pre-order '03 Z several years ago, I can confirm this swap will work. But you'll need to not only switch the IP, you'll need the padded side panels, headunit and white control box. Otherwise, it won't line up or function correctly.

Hmmm I think painting seems to be less painful route. I think I'll just use Vinyl paint as I've redone the whole waterfall column with it and it looks good.

I tried searching for pics of painted HVAC controls on this forum and on on google....brutally hard to find. Anyone have any links?
