Default longtube header install CEL

So a girlfriend of mine just installed some longtube headers on her 06 350z, apparently they came with the car so she had her friend do the install. He made the o2 harness extensions himself. They're catless ppe longtube headers/testpipes. Well after the install, I guess codes p0037 and p0133 showed up and now it runs slightly off. I was wondering if this was common?

Obviously it's going to need a tune, but i know some cars have those plug n play resistors or something similar to shut off the cars cel after LT installs/cat deletes. I was also thinking maybe the resistance in the o2 harness her friend cobbled up is off? Any tips or advice, I'm a vette guy so I have no idea anything about 350z's, any input would be appreciated!

Is that your friend?

Think I mentioned it was going to cause problems...

Going to need a tune, they have 02 extension pieces that move the 02 sensors out of the direct stream of exhaust but they dont always work... They are their to detect a problem and without the cats its just doing its job.

Haha no she had a into thread last week and I just put 2 and 2 together...

She most definitely needs some computer adjustments. Probably wouldn't get to crazy with the rpm's untill that happens.

Yeah I guess a tune would probably be the best place to start to see if it gets rid of the problems, I just wasn't sure if you HAD to have an o2 extension harness or a special plug in adapter. I know back when I had my cobra they made these extended o2 adapters that had some special adaptation built in to make it so it didn't trigger the cel and to keep it running smooth for people who opted to not do a tune

The Z seems to be a picky bastard of a car.. It doesn't appreciate aftermarket goodies without being adjusted accordingly... The factory cats and even the manifolds are big choking points but the car is set up for them... She just opened up a lot of flow and the ecu is probably having a hard time with it and the car is probably running very lean.

I remember my old rsx had a test pipe and I made a 02 simulator by drilling out a spark plug extension from auto zone... Worked like a champ...

The Z isnt a very mod friendly car compared to others... Most modifications tend to lose power or have no gains untill its tuned.

Nissan did a pretty good job when they put the car out from the factory.

get a tune, they will put the rear o2 sensors in not ready status, but you will still pass inspection. prob runs "slightly off" since she is running lean
