nismo number???
Alright so I just bought my 08 ppw z nismo.
I've always wanted a 350z since I got
my first busted down 300zx that barely drove haha anyways.
So come to find out from reading on the forums there should be a plate by the shifter with my number. No plate. No number. Just a slot where it should be.
I've been searching for 3 days now on how to figure out what number nismo I have.
if anyone could help me out that would be great.
if there's some way I could find out by looking at the vin or model number anything.
thank you

Definitely push your dealership on getting your NISMO plate. Nissan HQ is currently alerted on the 350Z NISMO plate issue. Apparently there is still some miscommunication between the U.S. NISMO parts office and their Japanese counterpart on producing replacement plates (per special order).
After 10 weeks of waiting, my dealership and I contact Nissan HQ to find out the delay. I have a case # and have posted on Nissan FB page every other day to get them to update me. Nissan HQ has forward this case to their respective NISMO parts office and also provided me their number (NISMO M-F 9am - 5pm CST 1-888-833-3225, nmc.race@nissan-usa.com). Note, they don't usually pick up or answer their e-mail.
After fail attempts at calling the above number, I recently talked to Craig Nangle at Nissan who originally lead the Certificate of Authenticity (For those that have that, put it in the safe as they don't make them anymore). After hearing about the plates and receiving a call from me, he's going to ping the parts division.
So currently, the plates (mines, MyTramp and other owners) are on order according to my latest Nissan update. Currently waiting on the dealership to call me when it arrives. In the meantime, going to call NISMO on Monday. It's best to be a the squeaky wheel especially when trying to replace a prominent part that authenticates a specialty vehicle.

That should of been a red flag and immediate question when you were LOOKING at it, be it from a private seller or dealership.

Alright that sounds like some solid stuff I will start there. Thank you for the very helpful replays on my first post!
And for the record bro. I was going to buy a 370z when I happen to come across this car. Never seen a nismo before I really loved the car plus I dont really like the lights on a 370z. But yes I didnt know and I didnt know there were only 1600 of them.

base model brakes and 03-05 headlights... sounds fishy... shouldn't a VIN check come back with if its actually a NISMO?
Underhood pic?

Yeah, something doesn't seem right as you pointed out. Need to verify the VIN. This is why NISMO wants to make sure they receive the old plates before they ship out the replacement. This is on top of them verifying the VIN.
HR owners can replicate the v3 NISMO inside and out with bolt-on parts with the exception the welding spots. I could be wrong in that statement but nonetheless, get it verify.

Damn bro, it looks like the Nismo you bought has been through some s**t. Obviously you're missing the Nismo plate, but also the OEM Nismo wheels, the OEM BREMBO brakes and the OEM headlights.
I can't find a pic of my PPW 350Z Nismo when it was stock. But here's a couple of pics from Google. That's how it should look like...
It does look like a real Nismo. It has the seats, Nismo cluster, and that second strut bar (I forget the correct name for it) over the intakes.. but like I said, it just looks like someone messed around with it big time.

By the way, does your steering wheel have red stitching?

Well if you got a great deal on it, it's still a good car, it's still a Nismo. You should be able to find and get the original headlights and Brembo brakes fairly easily (I think someone is selling the front and rear Brembo brakes in the FS section). The wheels are a little more rare but they do come up for sale once in a while. I actually bought and sold a set of them back when I had my 2003 350Z. The Nismo plate number is the only thing you might not be able to get back, I guess just put a cover on it so there's no hole at least. Good luck man.
