Default How to get a replacement Nismo plaque:

When I scratched then destroyed my Nismo plaque while trying to polish it over a year ago I was bummed and couldn't find any information on how to get it replaced. So after a few emails a few phone calls and a lot of time I was finally given the rundown of how to go about it.

The secret is. . .
"If you go to a Nissan dealership parts department, they can lookup parts on service bulletin #10-024 to order you a replacement."

I got this from our good friend Craig Nangle at Nissan. He also gave me his number that the dealer can call him if they have any questions.

I'm headed to the dealer Monday and I'll update with what goes down.

You will need a signed affidavit with 2 witnesses. Yes the NISMO is that special.

Okay, so yesterday the parts guy couldn't find the service bulletin and Craig Nangle wasn't available. I gave all my info to the parts guy and he told me he'd give me a call when he gets the information he needed. With my luck on this I figured it was another dead end. . .

To my surprise he called this morning and told me to come in! I don't know if he got the service bulletin faxed to him or if he found it in the computer or what but it goes over all the steps of how to order a replacement. It even includes an order form.

I had to turn in my old number plate and pay $185.37. I'm told it'll be around four weeks until I get my new plate.

Finally! I've been trying to get this replaced for a while now.

He just gave me the service bulletin number and told me to give his information to the parts department and that he'd go over the order process if the parts department had any questions.

I had scratched it pretty bad while installing a stereo and I had the genius idea of buffing out the scratch. By the time I was done it looked like crap and the scratch was still there. I'm sure some could live with it but I got all OCD about it.

Today I got my replacement number plaque.

It looks a little different from the original. From what I can remember my original had a little bit of a blue hue to it, and this one has a much more gun metal thing going on. I actually think this one looks better than my original did.

Sorry for the crummy pic but I'm at work and this is all I could manage.

I'm all excited to get home and pop it in place.

Sorry to revive this thread. Spoke to my local Nissan dealer. It's exactly what Nismo 1554 had mentioned. It's Part bulletin 10-024 which was part of the old Nissan bulletin system. It doesn't show on the dealership computer other than the current bulletin.

If you want to replace the plate, you need to tell your dealer to call the Nismo office in California. Once that happens, the dealership will start the paperwork and request the old plate from you along with VIN#. Nismo is particular in tracking down their plates. I guess it's to prevent from a dealership in advertising a fake Nismo. Overall the plate is still $185. I'm going to use the 3M protective film to cover the new plate.

Old plate:

Ok...... So I bought my car in April '13. It was missing the NISMO plaque from the console.... The dealer I bought it from said that if I can get it replaced then he will pay for it! So...... My question is: Is it possible to get a new one??? Even without the old part....

I dont even know what number the car is yet... Is there a database/list of the cars cross referenced to VIN numbers somewhere???

There should be a DB on the VIN numbers as the cars are tracked by numbers. I saw that the original owners usually recieve a certificate stating they own Nismo ### with the associated VIN. As for getting a new one without turning in the old one? I'm not sure Nismo is adamant about that. Dealership had to send my old one directly to Nismo for verification before they ship the new one. Your dealer must contact Nismo and have them tactfully convince them to ship you a new plate.
