Z Club track day
I was informed last Saturday that the Z Club track day scheduled for PMI on Oct. 8th will instead be held on Oct. 7th at the CHP track on Table Mtn in Golden. Gary, that's just over the hill from your place. Do you think you'll make it. I'm planning on being there. It will be my only track time this year for the car. I've had some time in karts and that was a great time but not as much fun as the car. Hopemto see everyone there. Go to ZCCC>org and you'll be able to download the registration form or give me a email and I'll send it to you when it's available.
Keep watching here!!!
Keep watching here!!!
Somebody give me the spiel on ZCCC and this track at Table mountain that I've not heard about. If there's value to this club and the event, I'd be up for both.
Joel
Edit: Gary, come to PMI on September 8th! Take a sick day, and if the big-wigs ask you, tell them your sick for the track.

I know I'll be missing a good time.
As for the track on Table Mountain, it's really just a training facility for the State Patrol, and as such isn't a real race track. It basically a 2-lane triangle with one corner lopped off (thus creating 2 turns there), with a bus-stop chicane on one of the straights. There are some semi-blind turns, a couple of quick transitions, one pretty fast turn, and a rather large hump on one of the straights that, under the right conditions, can just get the rear wheels to come off the pavement if you don't lift just a bit as you're coming up the rise. It is a scenic location, though, as you're up above the western side of Denver (Golden, really) and can get some great views in every direction.
As for the ZCCC, they're a good organization with a decent mix of car folks into various aspects of the hobby (cruising, tracking, resto, etc). They run their track events well, with a driver's meeting at the beginning of the day where all the relevant safety topics are covered, 4 run groups based on experience, strictly enforced passing rules, etc. They also require everyone to work a corner assignment at multiple times during the day...some folks don't like this, but I think it's a good opportunity to see the track from a different vantage point. As for track time, I believe it usually comes in somewhere between 75 and 90 minutes over the course of the day (split between a mix of 25, 20, and maybe 15 minute sessions.)
Hope you decide to make it to that event (even if it's just to hang out, as they allow that too.)
Gary,
Are you kidding? These brakes are awesome! I just recieved my order of Carbotechs today and installed them immediately. They bite like a cheerleader with a mouth full of braces on prom night! Ok, so I'm not sure what that means, but the brakes work incredibly well. I've got G-forces pulling me out of the seat now and that's barely tickling the pedal! ABS finds it's threshold much sooner too. Love it, love it, love it! Thanks again for the recomendations.
So, I assume I'll need to join ZCCC to attent the event (e.g. enjoy some track time)? What's this I see on their website - they've been doing Kart days too? Sounds interesting. I've been thinking about karts as a cheaper alternative to racing. Definitely more tracks available for that.
Hmmm.. October 8th, I could do that.

Joel,
Club membership is not a requirement to attend the track day. It is open to all with preference to club members but I've never seen anyone turned away. There is usually a mix of cars at one of these events including some that are race-prepped.
Gary is correct on both his description of the track and the club. As for cart event, the club has one cart event a summer for bragging rights at the Tynan's show and shine. The loser's flip burgers. This year the club members cook. We need some experience for the cart event. There is talk of doing more cart events to train for the Tynan's meet. It is a lot of fun and relatively inexpensive.
If your interested the club meets at 7:00 pm, the first Wednesday of the month at Brooklyn's on Colfax Ave right next to Invesco Field. I'm not sure of the address but it is on the website, ZCCC.org. Come to a meeting and check it out. Visitors are always welcome.

Here are the registration form and directions to the CHP track. I couldn't figure out hoe to attach them to a private message so I'll just post them here and you can print them.
David,
Glad to hear you'll be there. I'm going to make this one and my kids are coming as well. I'm hoping Gary and David M. will make it. I haven't seen or heard from Don in quite some time. Do you know what he's been doing?
