-- Quaife LSD -- ... want one?
Are you also eagerly awaiting for the release of the Quaife LSD for the 350Z and G35?
I got in touch with Quaife recently to follow up on the progress some of us have started in the past and here are my most current findings ...
They are currently being held back by a couple of snitches.
One, they are still looking for a 3rd sample from a kind sould willing to lent them an OEM differential, in order to determine the manufacturing tolerances between these units. So, if you happen to have an OEM diff. lying around and do not mind contributing to the cause, please PM me.
Second, they've yet determine which model they will release initially. As you may or may not know, there are FOUR different versions of the Z/G differential:
1. MT tranny - vLSD
2. MT tranny - open
3. AT tranny - vLSD
4. AT tranny - open
So, if you are seriously considering a Quaife LSD, please contribute to the poll, which I will forward to Quaife. I'd like to kindly ask those NOT ready to purchase the unit to withhold from the poll at this time, so as to not taint the statistics that determines the initial production run. For that reason, I will not be using the forum poll function and ask those seriously interested to make a quick and simple post of which version differential you own (1, 2, 3, or 4 from above). Thanks. Naturally, I'm hoping for #1 ... although that definitely does not mean the other varieties are out of the loop!
Haven't a clue what a Quaife LSD is or what's so special about it??? Read all about it HERE
Cheers,

I already have a the nismo lsd but am curious exactly what these are. Care to explain? From the link you give it looks to me like this is a torsen type diff? Also what does the open unit accomplish? I'm assuming it's more functional than the open diff in the base model.

Open diff. is non-desirable in nearly all senario.

doesn't Quaife do a viscous coupling for those already with a vlsd. So you have two or something? I have heard of this on their website? Can you further explain?
