Default 17" wheels, are they getting scratched really easy???

My 17" wheels and probably the 18's as well, mine are getting scratches all over them more so on the front ones, everytime I wash the car and get that dust off of them I find more scratches. Anyone else??

I will wash today and check...but as far as I know. no, no scratches.

Try castrol wheel cleaner instead of wiping that brake dust into the rim and scratching.

No scratches on mine either. Of course it's only a month old but I've also got 4 coats of Zaino on them. I spray them with EagleOne cleaner then wash with the used car soap solution and an old sheepskin wash mitt.

I also spray them and clean with mit and the scratches don't look superficial or small as I would expect if they were due to dust this seems to be from a more substantial object.

Here is one pic, it shows a scratch on the outer part of the rim and one on the spoke. Of course I had to wipe the dust off before being able to see them again, hell they were only washed last Saturday night!!

Those scratches definately aren't from washing. Can't imagine what's causing that. Can you feel any kind of indentation or might it be showing up under the clear coat.

well the rims are painted I believe, which means they are just as fragile as the car. now coat the car in metallic dust and run it around a few hundred revelutions/sec and see how it does. its gonna get scratched is what Im trying to say. just be sure not to run them into any curbs or nothing.

I dont care how fast you go I don't think the dust will cause those scratches, if that was the case the whole wheel would look like that.

The scratches are on the surface you can feel them if you run your fingernail over them, I have a feeling and that the comment regarding the likelyhood of scratching just like the rest of the painted surfaces is the case and what I feared, there is always construction going on around here so it is probably pebles or debris, it is just a matter of time for everyone I feel, so repaint in a few years, maybe I will go with DB for the wheels also. Or maybe we can put 3M on the wheels
