Spend $30K in mods or buy more expensive sportscar?
I have a decision to make and I am having a hard time making it.
I am looking for a black 04 track with low km. When I do find it my plans was to install the APS TT kit and catback with a built block, Tein Flex with EDFC, 19" HRE C21 rims, Willwood BBK F/R, ATS tripble carbon clutch and the list goes on... $30,000+ in mods.
Since I will never see the money back I spend on mods I have been looking into alternative sportcars with comparable HP in stock form that will bring a higher resale value compared to a modded Z.
The only other car I would consider is the 2005 Saleen S281E witch will be released in the spring with 500HP!! The sticker price will be around $60,000 (same price as the modded Z)

I guess the point I am trying to make is what would be the best choice..
Spending 30K+ in mods for the Z or buy a $60,000 sports car and keep it stock for higher resale and more reliable HP and warrentee?

for the poster of thi topic- do you have the 30K extra to drop into the Z, or will this be way into the future? If you have all the money right now, I suggest just buying a nicer car to begin with. (not a stang tho

I do not like the new C6 what so ever. I am sorry but it does not look anything like a ferrari.

I would no doubt but something used. for 60k or under you can get a fairly new Lotus TT, a nice viper, used ligenfelter corvette. I would never spend that much modifying a car in the first place. I agree with above, if you have the means to spend more now, get something that has more what you are looking for stock. Unless you are really taken by the looks of the 350 and are also obsessed with modding, I would spend the money on a different car.
Are you asking a financial choice or which is the cooler choice?
Logic leans towards any car that comes stock comparing to heavy modding another car since you get a warranty and higher resale value.
Most people do not buy or modify a car based on logic anyways but just remember, modding your Z devalues it, not increases the value for the most part.

I love my z but if I had $70K in disposable money I would definitely buy a nicer car. Speaking for myself, one of the primary reasons I bought my Z is because you can't find a better sportscar for the money IMO. But, with more money you definitely can.

I like corvettes in theory, but actually driving one I don't like as much as the Z
Viper or honda NSX would be the only cars I'd even consider under the 70k mark - and they'd have to be used to be below that price. Vipers suck as daily drivers - everything breaks.
As for me, I'm driving my modded Z and in aug I'm finally getting my lotus elise (still keeping the Z) can't wait to wake up in the morning and decide what to drive that day.

or, and this would be my choice...

But, then again, for 15k, you could have a BEAST of a Z that would eat up all three of those (maybe even the Viper),but not have a warranty. I dont think you need to spend a full 30k to mod a Z to make it put a hurt to any of those cars. So you could still have 15k left over for a pool.... for me!

There is little difference between buying a Z and modifying it yourself and buying a Saleen which is just having them modify a Mustang for you.
Really though, if you're spending $60k for either car, are you going to make your decision based upon resale value or upon which car you see yourself in? Because, if that's your primary concern, maybe you should be looking at some European sports sedan. Good luck.
I have a similar question I'm stuck between getting a 350z or a 93-98 Supra 6 spd. twin turbo, They both cost about the same and make comparable h/p but i don't know which would be more reliable at around 400 h/p as a daily driver, a
The elise is too small, if that would be your choice over a viper or a corvette or lotus esprit, then there is something wrong, lol. Its too tiny. Your choice depends on a lot of things though, daily driver, warranty, performance and looks.
The Z was all i could really afford right now, i'm only 22 but if I had more money to spend i would easily get soemthing else. I love cars that are exotic, rare and fast, so regardless of warranty I would pick something that I never see which is why i suggested the cars i did.
Go test drive some stuff and see what you like.

350z modded to make 400 h/p for a fun afternoon or if someone wanted to mess with me, with a boost controller for normal driving would probably cost more than just changing a few parts in the supra and upping the boost on the turbos that it comes with stock
