Whenever the weather is below 5 degrees C (< 23F), I get this strange drivetrain noise. It’s a whining noise that is proportionate to the speed of the car and only last for the first few minutes of driving then goes away. It sounds like wind noise (as if the window was cracked down a bit) but its definitely not wind noise.
My car did this last winter then it disappeared in the summer. Anybody else experience this?
Thanks,

I have this problem too. Only when it is cold. I brought it to the dealer and of course my car was warm by the time I got it there.
Even left it over night one time. Couldn't reproduce it. It has been 30 degrees here for the last few days. Sure enough...the tranny whistles like a railroad worker.

The noise sounds like it is coming from the tranny but I didn't want to say it in my last post (because people could be less subjective with their replies).
I would take it to the dealer, but it doesn't get below 20F here with certainty very often so its difficult to time it.

I noticed that too, but only when it's cold.. around 40°F. It sounds more like it's coming from the windshield molding. Same symptoms.. cold out, pitch changes with speed and it goes away in 5-6 minutes. I have tranny whining too, but it's pretty much always there.

BUMP
Sorry for the bump, I'm desperate to know if anybody else has had this problem and if they have had it fixed. I don't want to have to leave my car at the dealer overnight to have them diagnose it.
