washing the Z in NY
Hey Everyone,
I still use my Z is the winter and it sucks how dirty it gets! Now, the weather here isin't like SoCal where I can wash my car every 2-3 weeks, any suggestions? I heard the california duster has micromarring issues...is this true? I bought one for my 5 series, but read on another forum that there is the issue...
Let me know what you think!

A lot of people on here use the duster and go w/o washing their cars for months. I don't use it because I can easily wash it every weekend and I have a blue car which gets REALLY dirty. That and I don't trust using somehting like that. It depends a lot on which color car you have. If you have a darker color then I recommend washing it the real way.

Dont wash your car until the rain wash away the salt. I went for a car wash last night and this morning when i saw my car it was all F*** up again and i have a super black. There is a hand wash place in the service road of the LIE next to arbe's 12 bucks for a full sevice wash and they do a great job.
Desiguy, what area of NY do you live in?? I know a pretty good car wash in Manhassett, L.I. They take serious care of your car there. And if you live in the queens area I know of a $50 hand wash thats insane.

If you want to protect your car from salt? If your car is really dirty, wash it as you normally would. After its rinsed wet, take appox. 1 cup of kerosene and pour it into a quarter pail of water. Take a clean small towel or clean sponge and appy it to your car. Avoid windows and rubber. You can leave it wet to dry but it won't look nice. After a while a light glaze appears and just shine it off with a clean dry towel. This application also does several more things; it removes all bugs (I know its winter), tar, acts as a wax, washes and shines to a very nice luster. The negative part is gives off a strong kerosene odor at the beginning. lol
No problem...your mixing it with water. This method was used many years ago by the firemen washing their trucks. Did you ever see an old rusted fire truck years ago? Never!
People spend $$$$$ on wax's, polish, compounds & etc. NO need for it. Just my opinion. Also...I've heard their is a odorless kerosene but I have not seen it yet.
