Anyone else just not care anymore???
This thread is probably mostly for the other pre-order people who are still waiting like me. Now that all the hype has died down, it just doesn't feel really special to have pre-ordered. People who ordered in sept and oct are getting their cars at about the same time as us and those cars are also less likely to have any of the first-run bugs that our cars might have.
As it stands, I may not get the car until late nov. early december. I might as well wait for discounts/vpp to kick in. And the way things are going w/ the economy, the car IS going to have to be discounted before model year 2k3 ends if production targets are going to be met.
Anyway, I am the only one in this frame of mind? (other than rai, I guess--he already acted on his frustration :-) )

Hi, guys. I placed a regular order that was punched in on October 2. I have a build date of November 2. At least that's what's in the computer. I'm being told a delivery of possibly December, but probably January.
Now, that seems very quick to me, since a lost of the pre-order people are still waiting. I may be wrong, but the schedule for regular order cars may be very optimistic. Only time will tell.
Anyway, hope things start rollin' real soon. Hang in there!

Bottom line is that I am getting my car this week after a very long (for me) wait. I am getting the car I wanted. I lusted for others during this period, German actually, but have not strayed. When you get your car and sit behind the wheel, I bet you will quickly forget you posted this thread.
The strike on the West coast hasn't helped, either. I ordered end of April, called dealer in Sept for the first time, he had my VIN and it came in 11 days early on 10/4, so mines just over a month old. Just the luck of the draw.
Sorry you must wait, but you'll forget all about it once your Z is here. This car is so incredible, it gets better every day, you'll have a blast with your Z and the hype will be back!

I know what you mean, MikeyDNY. I'm still anxious to get the car, but I feel like I missed the party. How long have you been waiting? I'm about a week away from the ten month mark.

I think one factor is the time of year the car is coming. It's not really exciting to buy a sports car in the dead of winter when you can't push it at all. Also, I feel like I might be getting screwed if buy Nov-Jan. because by spring, the discounting/vpp will be here.
Everyone remember all the hype surrounding the G35 back in March (hard to get, BMW beater, etc.)? Now they just sit on the lots. I think the sales numbers are around 2500 per month. I personally believe the Z is much better than the G35, but how is Nissan gonna sell nearly that number of 2 seat sports cars in this economy?

For all you guys who were screwed on the pre-orders, I hope you post the names of the dealers here and everywhere else you can so people who buy Z's and other Nissans in the future will be compelled to avoid them.
I ordered May 13th and got my VIN October 21st. My dealer sucks but Nissan stated in their original confirmation letter that I would receive the car between September and November. We will see

These posts really surprise me. Not that you are frustrated but that you are still waiting for your Z's.
I stopped by Hanlee's Nissan in Richmond, CA last night to see if my replacement amp had been ordered. As I pulled into the lot, I looked to my right to see four newly delivered and unsold Z's waiting for prep. They now have five Z's in stock, all unsold, ranging from VIN 5000 to 6100.

The sales manager said he would sell any of them to me at MSRP. I was also told their delivery was part of 150 Z's that were distributed to dealerships in California yesterday.
I undertstood there were approximately 7800 presold orders. Why then are there five Z's at one dealership with VINs under 7800 sitting unsold on a lot?

It seems as though at least 1/4 of the preorders were b.s. dealer friends, salesman, etc. orders. I'm not knocking the quality of the car, but it seems like a good portion of initial demand was artificial. I've made a few calls in the last few days to dealers who were adamant in sept. about 5-10k markups. Now, all are back to msrp (for cars on the lot) and there's no way these slimeballs would be at msrp if they didnt have to due to a lack of demand.

Hi,I'm new here. I picked up my pre-order in late Sept.
The only thing better than driving this car is seeing another car and knowing that someone else is having as much fun as you are, with that same silly *** grin on thier face as you have on yours.
I still have only had this experience one time. I work in the bay area,Ca. There are suppose to be a lot of 350Z's here. I haven't gotten to see them. Bottom line is most people still have not seen this car.
This is my first pre-order car. I loved picking up a car built with my options, not picking it off of the lot getting some of the options I wanted and some I did not want along with color.
(SORRY! Way more info than you wanted.)
STILL NOT NEAR ENOUGH 350Z's ON THE ROAD.
NEED MORE 350's

Yea, the waiting is hard, but look on the bright side - the longer the delay, the higher the chances that any initial bugs will have been worked out and that your car will be problem-free. Could be a blessing in disguise.
